Be delighted with Gomis tbh, but still need someone capable of playing out wide, he doesnt.

On the flipside some more crap from the tabloids seeing us linked to a LB and GK and jumping to conclusions..

Gomis is not really the one i want as it means 4-4-2 and long ball for the foreseeable future but at least unlike Ba.... Gomis can make the ball stick and bring others into the game while being faster than Ba so he could make hoofball effective.

But in the situation we find ourselves in beggars can't be choosers.

On the upside it would pretty much rule out an Andy Carroll return in the summer.

Well, if we're going to play the long ball then we might as well have someone who can win the ball up top ...

We really just need to be more effective regardless of the style of play.

Utilising the wings would be really important if we go 4-4-2. Debuchy will help, but we really need improved wing play for someone other than Ben Arfa too.

Aye if nothing else he would make us effective at that style, he's a poor mans Drogba basically its just not really the type i wanted us to go for.

But if we do want long ball then he would make us effective as he's very strong, quick and dominate aerially.

Anyway we will see.

Gomis :anguish:

Just a younger Shola.

He's scored 40 goals in 78 games in the last 2 seasons. By way of comparison Shola has 34 goals in the last 8 seasons

Looks like he might be just a little more proficient than wor Shola!

Was gonna say, if we get Gomis, expect even longer balls...i think this backs up the idea that Loic Remy would have just been striker down the middle too, just the long balls would be tried to be lofted in behind the defence...

Well I cant see us getting Aubamyang in January because St Etienne just got to the French League cup final last night by beating Lille on penalties.  Also Montpellier are playing in the other semi tonight, and if they get to the final I reckon we can say bye bye to Mbiwa too.  Time to move on to other targets I reckon!

There'd be something tragically beautiful about signing Siem De Jong and giving him to Pardew to do something with. If we're stuck with Pardew we're better off signing a lump like Gomis, the alternative is long balls up to Cisse.

Maybe Pardew wants to buy Gomis because he doesn't want to have Cisse as the target man. What that means for Cisse I'm not sure, either 4-4-2 or more wing duty probably.
