Jagten
Lose to Sunderland, leak transfer rumours. This morning's Douglas article in the Journal stinks of this. Aye. Always a bit odd when virtually every paper has the same transfer story, with presumably the same source.
Chrisjraby
If Carroll is on £90k a week at Liverpool now, he'd be lucky to get half that if he came back surely?
Guest bimpy474
Reckons we'll sign both Aubameyang and Carroll, well trying to. What a lot a bollocks. Both of them, and a total overhaul of the squad with new-look team. All whilst keeping finances sensible and under the guise of stability. Righto. Exactly what i thought, us spending £10.3m on Aubameyang and £10m on Carroll if Liverpool accept it. Us spending that pahahahahaha
Guest icemanblue
Fuck it. We're in desperate need of strikers. If we can get him relatively cheap, and on sensible wages, then I think it's worth a gamble that he can recapture his old form.
joeyt
Must be in the minority that I wouldnt mind Carroll back
Guest icemanblue
People have forgotten just how good he was for us, like. Completely understandable considering what he's 'achieved' since. But, I think where he was (here) played a big part in his motivation.
LRD
It will be either PEA or Carroll. Doubt they will spend big money on 2 first-team strikers to add to Cisse. PEA for me.
LiquidAK
PEA would be good, Carroll I wouldn't mind, both would be brilliant. Having 3 strikers that I wouldn't mind starting for us would be awesome, especially compared to the Shola situation we've got now.
Lotus
Carroll is not interested in being a top class pro.
Dr Venkman
http://www.popeandswift.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/andy_carroll_280x39_779934a11.jpg If we sign Carroll back we may as well bin Cabaye/Siss/HBA etc. The midfield will be bypassed anyway. Grim Not necessarily, Sissoko would be pretty good picking up on knock downs from Carroll and driving on. I don't want him back either but there are ways in which it could work. Dave
I think recent recruitment and the wishful thinking that Pardew may be replaced any time soon by a more progressive manager is making some believe that we're somehow above having a player like Carroll in the side. I don't see us being any much more of a passing side now than we were under Hughton when Carroll was our main threat, despite Pardew's spiel.

I suppose yeah, but I really don't think Sissoko should be playing that far forward personally, and it will encourage our ball playing CB's to hoof long to Carroll. We do that anyway, this smacks of Pardew being so fucking braindead that his only solution to our woes is to buy a big target man, and revert to type I didn't say anything about how far forward they would be, you can knock a ball down to an on running midfielder in any part of the pitch. lovejoy
Would take Carroll back no problem at all personally. Must have been watching a different team to those who feel we've 'moved on'.
Big Geordie
Yup - I would take him back as well. As long as it's a sensible price and deal.
McCormick
I suppose I'd take Carroll but not if it meant missing out on PEA. Obviously.
Skeletor
Signing them both would give us good options but it's definitely one or the other and I'd much rather have Aubameyang.
SiLvOR
I think we'll be linked with Carroll in every window until the day he does finally come back. I'd still think PEA is our main target, considering Mike actually went to see him.
Barnes23
Don't want Carroll back. Will only exacerbate the poor tactics which has seen us fail to maximise the potential of some very talented players. The best signing we can make this summer is a new manager.
Smal
Think people are kidding themselves if they think bringing Carroll back won't necessarily mean a 4-4-2.
Mole_Toonfan
Id have Carroll and PEA. Aye but not only is it very difficult to believe i struggle to understand how we would fit Aubameyang, Carroll and Cisse in the same team

GeordieT
I would have him back at £10 million, but he would have to win me over.
NG32
Dont want AC.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
Dont want AC. Not really needed ion England anyway. Can't justify that kind of expense with this weather.
TaylorJ_01
An AC-AC partnership would be hilarious for a few reasons. 1. The old little and large thing, but ridiculous. 2. We could call them AC^2. 3. Er... 4. That's it.
