Big, big threads take a decent toll on the database. 25k is usually the maximum recommended that they should grow to, so we're trying to stick to that.

 

Definitely not just for a laugh.

Probably been answered - but if the old thread still exists does it make any difference? Would understand if it got deleted.

Aye, but it won't get any bigger if it's locked. That's what Rich is on about.

Their club captain, you know the thug and car vandal, was let loose on TV last night representing them in an interview about the cup game. Disgraceful.

Anyone know when he's due in court to face the car vandalism charges ?

 

He isnt, he hasnt been charged yet.

It's not the disk space used by a thread on the server that's the problem really, at least not in isolation. Rebooting threads just means the database isn't digging up 25,000 posts every time someone clicks a particular thread. While the other one is still accessible as an archive of sorts, this one is where the vast majority of the activity will be transferred to now.
