A lot of posters in here could have egg on their faces come March 4.

You can say that for any game. I won't have any shame going into the Mackem game feeling confident, given our record against them...

They won't come here and successfully shut up shop and hit us on the break. Their players won't be able to handle the pressure, they never can.

They've got a much better man manager and motivator now, though.

Won't make any difference when they're trying to defend for 90 mins in this game.

Got faith in Pardew for the derby. One of his strengths is definitely pre-game planning and I think it'll be very similar to Stoke away, they have one set in stone way of playing and rarely stray from it. If things are going against them O'Neill isn't tactically capable enough to change things like Jol did a couple weeks back.

Subbing on a quick striker when opposing team plays a high line is hardly a ph.d worthy move

First of all, it's the mackems, we're at home and we've got every chance of fielding our best 11 bar Saylor. I'm entitled to be confident.

Secondly, if we lose a home derby being wrong on the internet will be the least of my worries.

I can see the derby being an absolutely intense experience in a month's time; first time i'm gonna go all out to get myself a ticket. Them improving will inject an even bigger atmosphere than normal, i reckon.

Agree with that like - match-specific tactics seem to be a particular strength of Pards.

Apparently it's practically sold out anyway, before it's even got to General Sale.

Thank fuck for that. Can continue being a pure armchair fan now.

The Derby is going to be a tough game like, that I'm certain of. I'm actually pretty confident that we'll just about win it too. Hopefully we'll have the proper first team playing on the day - this, along with the atmosphere at St. James' will be key to a win for us.

By its very nature football ebb and flows. They're on a fantastic run, full of confidence, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets. It will turn back for them as they're not good enough to keep winning week after week. They'll have a run of games where things don't go their way soon enough and they'll drop points in gas they're currently winning.

Sets the derby up though. Both teams can go into it without worrying about dropping down the league.
