Pretty good example of what holds them back in these fixtures and the general difference in the two clubs. They define themselves by their hatred for 'the mags'. That's why they ran away before half time when they got hammered at SJP, supporting Sunderland isn't the most important thing to them, hating us is.

The fact that FTM is the slogan they all live by tells you all you need to know.

Christ, they are all in absolute kinks at that fella answering every question with Fuck off . . . .

Didn't quite catch the joke myself.

Both 'class' and '9-1' only entered the Mackem lexicon after they were absolutely harrowed by the 5-1, about 10 minutes after they'd been sure our relegation meant it was their turn for an extended period of dominance. Going into this match they were still sure we were a championship level yo-yo club and were relishing the prospect of demolishing us. All of that crumbled in 90 minutes and they desperately needed to clutch at a straw to beat us with, however flaccid. I don't think any of them genuinely think their club is seen as 'classy' by neutrals or even classier than ours, or that anyone outside of Wearside (or even in Wearside pre-2010) knows or cares that Sunderland beat us 9-1 in an age where football was so different that the modern offside rule didn't exist and Newcastle were winning the league.

The reason it seems so bizarre is that it's a collective expression if one of the stages of post traumatic stress

Great post.

Our demise, rebirth and later thrashing of them followed by qualification for Europe has sent a lot of them (not all) completely over the edge. It's utterly embarrassing man, "So what if you beat us 5-1, we won 9-1 one hundred years ago!" Sadly it's all they've got.

Generally speaking in the modern era they have distinctively been the shadow club in the North East. They have to cling to the rare moments when they get one over us which generally happens maybe twice a decade. It's why on Sunday, either at the match or online you'll see Marco Gabbiadini t shirts, Gary Rowell championing and the 9-1. All fading into obscurity but in the absence of anything more recent and solid, they'll continue to hang onto.

Showing themselves up as the troglodytes that they are.

The primate gets acceptance from the others by a round of applause.

No no...not the case:

Mag comprehensively ripped apart in the first reply.

Man, Id really hope that if a mackem came on here and asked those questions we'd not act like kids. Fair enough say you cant be arsed to answer or rip them, but writing fuck off fifteen times and then having everyone laugh their heads off is a fucking indictment of intelligence on that site

You'll probably fine the same mackems who go on about 1-9 will also like to tell us how we've 'won fuck all' despite referencing a score line that happened when we won the league
