Brighton 1 - 0 Newcastle - 28/01/12 - Post-match reaction from page 31

Recommended Posts

After a miserable first 20 minutes, we established good possession for the most part, final third is totally shit as expected.  Dembas can't get back fast enough.

Passing it around well enough, couple of scares from Buckley against Santon - Davide's concentration seems to wane from time to time.

But what came first? No movement up front, or no pass from HBA?

Was wondering the same thing! Whats our Captain's movement look like upfront?

He puts his left leg in, his left leg out...

It hasn't been that bad. ???

We're just timid as fuck in and around the box. We knew that would be the case given the personnel available.

Yes.

Started to gain control as the half went on. Just absolutely no incisiveness in the final third, Ben Arfa's been a liability, really needs to pick it up. This isn't a bad half, if we can improve our final ball, Brighton only look able to score on a mistake from us.

Dont think we have been poor, Brighton have pressed and closed down any space but we are a PL team having a good season, we SHOULD be capable to open them up and create space.

Cabaye is playing too deep and needs to get into the game. Maybe he is covering Perch.

Ben Arfa isnt getting on the ball enough and when he does he's trying to go past that one man too many. Lack of movement around him though.

Shola's done alrite, good strength at times but really lacks any mobility.

Shola off and either Ferguson or Obertan on.

We've been utterly abject. Don't look motivated at all.

Really don't get how we don't look 'motivated'. We've been sharp and fluid with our passing from defense to midfield and have tried to force our way through. It's the front three that are letting us down at the minute, no one else.

Utter shit

Santon not having the nest of times at RB is he.

I think Pards knows we are desperately poor infront of goal without Demba and midfield lacks a lot without Tiote and having no Colo means Cabaye and Guthrie have to protect the back four.

Its boring and means another match but I think he is just trying to ensure we stay in the cup, get them up here with our best 11 to stuff them.

However had we just flown at them from the off nicked one and then played like this we could be through.
