Newcastle 1 - 1 Sunderland - 04/03/12 - post-match reaction from page 42

NUFC have just praised both fans behavior so all those stories last night are bullshit.

http://www.northumbria.police.uk/news_and_events/media_centre/news_releases/details.asp?id=56491

They've been allowed to get away with that type of behaviour for years now so it's no surprise that they're sinking lower all the time.

It started when the police and FA turned a blind eye to the pitch invasions and attacking opposition players in their stadium, now it seems that wrecking their transport to the match is in vogue with macums. Does it really surprise anyone when they have a captain like Lee Cattermole and their manager refuses to make any stance against the criminal element on their playing staff ?

Perhaps the way the club is going is a reason for their half empty stadium, decent people not wanting to be associated with it and just leaving it to the fuckwits.

Shut up man, Sunderland's a classy club. We can only hope to learn from them.

Anyone else had to sit through David Pleat's woeful commentary? Full of bullocks and clearly biased towards the mackems.

Every time we had a penalty claim he would say 'no thats not a penalty'. Even when replays clearly showed Turner's (i think) hand striking the ball way above his head, he was adamant that it wasnt a penalty. Even Steve Banyard sounded baffled.

Watched those highlights before, he's a complete cunt. He was going mental about Simpson kicking off after McLean halfed him and saying Krul had no business getting involved. Completely overlooking the shocking tackle in the process.

Pleat was awful.  There were a few Arsenal supporters watching with us and even they were getting pissed at Pleat's commentary.  To be fair, he is usually much better and even very complimentary towards us (Tottenham home match and Villa a few weeks ago come to mind).

Heard him on the radio last week and he was saying it was good that Liverpool were in the top 6 and the right teams were now making up the top 6 (even though we were 6th and Liverpool 7th).  He then said that 2 teams were underperforming that should be in the top 8 and they were Villa and Everton.  Never mentioned us at all.

Bendtner and Ameobi criticised over ‘mindless acts of football’

Sunderland Newcastle Derby

Sunderland’s Nicklas Bendtner and Newcastle’s Shola Ameobi have been slammed by fans, players and managers after the pair blighted yesterday’s Tyne-Wear derby with a goal apiece.

An otherwise enjoyable ninety minutes of mild violence was marred by a goal in each half, and pundits have been quick to criticise the pair.

“It was a great game between the two sides, full of passion, commitment, and people running around kicking each other.” said Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer.

“Lee Cattermole set the tone for a classic as only he can; by trying to end Tiote’s career in the first minute. And it just got better and better from there.”

“There were a number of tackles bordering on assault, a pretty weak punch to the face and some terrible play-acting, everything you want from a modern premier league derby.”

“But then Bendtner went and scored a goal, Shola retaliated with one of his own and that really let everybody down and put a dampener on the whole thing.”

North-east Derby

Bendtner, on loan from Arsenal, could face sanctions after replays appeared to show that his goal may have been deliberate, while Ameobi’s at least looked like he didn’t know what he was doing.

Shearer was very critical of the pair in his analysis, telling viewers, “The only thing you can say for Shola is that Bendtner scored first, but he should know better than to react like that and he’ll be disappointed with himself.”

“To be fair to the pair of them though, neither really has a history of doing this sort of thing, it’s a bit out of character and I don’t see either of them making a habit of scoring goals.”

What a turgid first half. Picked up the urgency in the second, but it just felt like we were never scoring! Especially when Ba missed that pelanty. Didn't feel comfortable from the off tbh with Shola on the pitch and not taking it, as silly and hindsight-tastic as that may sound.Amazing that the cunts are accusing us of swaying the ref considering some of the decisions. He was fucking abysmal, that's for sure. The main reason I've lost my voice.

Probably been mentioned in the first few pages but was brilliant when the DJ played Tom Hark - Piranha's before the match (We hate Sunderland...scum...). Don't remember him playing it before any other of the derby games.

The 'We hate Sunderland' was absolutely class. Top marks to the announcer bloke for that, got the place rocking.

Should have played it as the players came out too

I would rather they turned the music off, the atmosphere was just getting going and they turned the music up and everybody stopped singing.
