Fabrice Muamba Update

Sunday 18 March, 2012

Fabrice Muamba remains in a critical condition in intensive care in the Heart Attack Centre at The London Chest Hospital.

Fabrice was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening after collapsing at White Hart Lane, where he sustained a cardiac arrest during the FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Fabrice received prolonged resuscitation at the ground and on route to The London Chest Hospital, where his heart eventually started working.

As is normal medical practice, Fabrice remains anaesthetised in intensive care and will be for at least 24 hours.

His condition continues to be closely monitored by the cardiac specialists at the hospital.

Bolton Wanderers Manager Owen Coyle said: "Fabrice's family have asked me to pass on their thanks for the many, many kind messages of support from not only Bolton fans but also fans from clubs across the country and abroad.

"All our thoughts and prayers are for Fabrice and his family. The family would also like to thank the media for respecting their privacy at this time."

No further updates are planned at this time.

Always really liked the lad and I wanted us to sign him when he went to Bolton.

Genuinely shocking when I read this last night, wishing him strength and luck and a good recovery. Has always been shocking when these things have happened in football but somehow hits home even more when it's a young English player in the premier league.

Boltons game Vs Villa on Tuesday postponed.

Least of their worries no doubt, but they're going to have a nasty fixture build-up, they could still draw with Spurs when that game's replayed and face yet another replay.

Nice of the Spurs stewards - feckin jobsworths no doubt.

To be fair to them, how the fuck do they know the bloke's actually a cardiologist? Could be anyone.

Was thinking that too, they did the right thing IMO.

Indeed, there are way too many factors in play to just let some guy onto the pitch while there's a serious medical emergency. He was already getting professional attention, I doubt one person more would've changed anything.

Did he get a yellow card?

You only get a yellow if its a political (not just about politics) statement i think, if i remember it right Mad Mario didn't get one for his "why always me" on his undershirt, apologises if i wrong like.

Been away over the weekend, haven't seen it but I was shocked when I heard about it.

Thoughts are with his family, friends and team mates in what is a critical time for him.
