I noted after he signed Steven Taylor said in an interview that De Jong never snatches at shots. He said he was supreme composure or something alone those lines.

I think it told in his play. He was always wanting to slow the game down, and while there were moments he linked up well with Remy, I'd be concerned if we bit at their asking price. Offer them €3-4million and see what they say. Mind you he'll need pace surrounding him as he's not a ball carrier. I'd also be concerned about his handling of the physical side of things. He said he found Germany quite a tough league in that sense, and there was instances in which he shirked things and looked a tad soft.

Proven = barely played.

Never claimed he was class, good or even half decent. The fact is we don't currently have a single fit forward that Pardew will play up front so if this lad is available on the cheap I'd rather give him a change than no-one at all. We aren't going to shell out on a load of strikers who will instantly fit in and score goals, that is one of the few thing I am comfortable of.

Sign him and play him = relegated no thanks

We're fucked either way tbh.

Seriously, how bad is Pardew?

His incompetence knows no bounds.

Defensive number 10, and then we slate the man for not scoring goals.

You're right, we should praise his talent for striking the ball like a 4-year-old in his back garden.

Kinda happened when your confidence is on the floor mind.

See Fernando Torres

Why was his confidence on the floor on the back of a lucrative move to Germany?

As you know. He wasn't getting any playing time and moving to Germany hasn't been great for him.

Also note that a 50million pound move to Chelsea for Torres also didn't do much for his confidence.

He'd been on the bench all season! Instead of coming over and being given the freedom to play right upfront, and be provided with good service, he was placed in a defensive number 10 role, and the widemen and full backs pushed aaaaaaaaaaaall the way back!

Dude had no chance. He'll never fit in here under Pardew, and shouldn't be signed. Having said that he's definitely not as bad as he looked. No doubt about it.

The only strikers that will work in this team are great athletes that can capitalise on scraps and half chances.

There must have been a reason he wasn't playing, probably because when he did he played like he did whilst here.

Torres was a crock before Chelsea signed him.

Fernando Torres was already out of sorts when he moved to Chelsea. He was on the decline and had been playing first team football at the highest level for around/over a decade. Not many players of his type perform at their best for ten years. It was always a ridiculous transfer that had every chance of blowing up in Chelsea's face. Incomparable situations.

De Jong had two good seasons in a very poor league. As soon as he stepped up in a harder league he failed. Fuck knows why anyone thought he would do the business here. He looked piss at every opportunity and showed not a single glimor of anything that would make him a viable signing. Of course coming into a wank side, with Alan Pardew as manager wouldnt have helped but even so, when you take a punt on a player from a shit league, it's always a gamble whether they'd be able to cope against better opposition. De Jong, like so many before him has proved he cant. Needs to go back to Holland where even Altidore looked good.

Why on earth did he do an interview like that after he left? Strange as f*** by both he and the club tbh.

I thought that. Never known a club to have an interview with a loan player when he's left the club. Probably already agreed to sign him back.

Campaign to make him seem like a worthwhile signing? He just didn't get the breaks etc etc. Maybe after another years loan. Something inspiring like that.

So he didn't play well in Germany because his confidence was on the floor from not playing well, now I've got it. And Torres had a great career before Chelsea, you can't compare the two.

Don't give any bullshit about Holland, either. De Jong's done nowt to suggest he's any better than the rubbish he's shown here.

Lol OK, did nothing to warrant a big money move to Germany.

I'm not saying he's a world beater but I'm certain he's better than what he's shown here.
