David28 Posted September 7, 2012 Share Posted September 7, 2012 Regarding Cronaldo, what I think it is happening: 1) He wants a new contract. 2) His old contract was signed under our previous tax legislation, which granted foreign footballers a mere 20% income tax. This was abolished a couple years ago when Spain's finances started to go down the drain. 3) So, if he signs a new contract, his taxes will go up to 45%. He is probably asking a pay raise *and* that Madrid shoulder the tax increase. 4) Obviously, Madrid are probably not accepting that since it would be a huge amount of money on their wage will.
