jdckelly
That one player story if true. taking what any manager anywhere says at face value in proximity to a transfer window is not advisable. Pards probably both trying to manage expectations and try and not make us look desperate saying we need 3/4/5 players which raises prices in jan especially
NG32
I'm surprised OM would sell him to us given our track record with the whole Ben Arfa pantomime. Perhaps it's a case of better the devil you know. We bought a player off them with a broken leg.
AlanSkÃrare
We also bought Beye after a summer of madness. It seems like it's never easy with them.
steve_69
but I can't believe I'm always amused when I read this, as if the previous 73326526763348 trasfer windows hadn't seen all of our expectations be miserably crushed Why are you ignoring all our good signings? I'm not, but to be honest that happened only once since Ashley took over, and it was 2 years ago. All the other windows were abysmal, we followed the same few targets for weeks /months and always ended up with nothing, even when we desperately needed someone and even when we "couldn't believe" that the board wouldn't do anything. We splashed £9m on a world class? striker last January and that surpassed my expectations. As usual I expected fuck all
Guest reefatoon
If Cisse doesn't start scoring and Ba goes and Remy comes in then I think we will be relegated. That's the spirit!!
joeyt
This will have already been mentioned, but if he comes, we're going to be even better on FIFA
Dave
Beyond me why anyone places stock in what Pardew has to say any more. At best his comments are good for a laugh, at worst they're often downright lies.

Yorkie
Whilst I'm not as pessimistic as that, I can understand the point of view. If it's a one-in-one-out thing, I'm very meh about this.
Dave
Well last January he categorically stated that we were not going to sign a striker. I remember Carroll not being for sale at any price. Then there's the 'we played 4-3-3' bollocks despite anyone with eyes knowing we didn't. And suggesting the lack of hoarding at the training ground was a reason for our tactics being spoilt etc. I'm just saying, it's all meaningless guff. I used to think he was refreshingly honest but most of it has disappeared with our form. Other managers are the same so it makes no odds.
sempuki
If we got rid of players such as Simpson, Williamson, Gosling etc. and replaced them with better players I am sure everyone would be happy. Not sure we could shift them though.

Not sure we could shift them though. Don't worry we'd be able to shift all three without any problem. Don't think ManU or the Arabs will be in for them, but they're decent pros and are on money that wouldn't deter other clubs. Thing is though, in the real world, they're about the level we can expect at Newcastle as squad back up and so may be better keeping them for that purpose. That's unless you belong in the deluded camp who think we are in a position to keep top players in cold storage up Barrack Road who will be quite content to bide their time and get some action when first choice players are injured or suspended. Providing he is replaced getting shot of Simpson would make financial sense to Llambias et al. Really want to see a CH come in personally. There were rumours of Villa being interested in Gosling a while back - I really don't think he is anything special (and injury prone) and probably only got him because he was on a free.
