Usual double standards in football,

if that was 3 quarters over the line it's out...

Except the bit of the line between the posts.

In which case it wouldn't have been a goal.

Gotta love technology... Sometimes

Edit... Damn that tardis

What is it about Haïdara that makes opposition players try to snap him in half with their challenges? Haïdara is like a red rag to a bull for opposition players. McManaman for Wigan, Schneiderlin for Southampton and whichever Stoke player it was have all done bad tackles on Haïdara.

They fear him.

Prefer Santon atm but there's absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of honest competition between the 2 of them for a starting place. It's up for grabs so let them compete for the shirt.

I reckon Debuchy and Haidara are our most natural, and best defensive options. Santon is canny for when we attack teams though.

As you say, competition for place is good, and essentially the RB position could be up for grabs if Haidara gets slotted in at LB for whatever reason.

For me, a quality CB would be best to sign in January, along with Remy and a half decent target man. We wont splash that though unless we sell.

not sure if haidara is best when we are attacking teams but it seems like the staff have high hopes for him given they way they seem desperate to get him game time without starting games.

Mentioned this before, odd how often and early a left back comes on. It isn't a position that will change a game unless the other left back is having a real shocker.

still yet to see anything in this lad that makes him better than Dummett.

This lad is a million times better than Dummett. Dummett is an SPL player, and I thought he'd end up there full time until our idiotic board gave him a 6 year contract.

Not this again, leave Dummett alone.

Haidara hopeful of edging out Dummett for Newcastle starting spot

MASSADIO Haidara is hopeful he has impressed Alan Pardew enough to earn a start against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Haidara played the full 90 minutes at Gillingham on Tuesday as Newcastle won the League Cup tie 1-0.

It was the left-back’s first start of the season, with Paul Dummett preferred in the opening two Premier League games in the absence of Davide Santon.

Haidara impressed against the League One side, and hit the bar with a long-range thunderbolt, but he now wants more match action.

He said: “I felt good and happy because it was my first game of the season.

“Hopefully I have impressed the manager and now I have to try and play more games.

“I tried to get the ball into the box as much as possible for our strikers, because we hadn’t scored before this game.

“We have to deliver good crosses if we want the strikers to score, so that is what I was trying to do.

“I also thought I had scored my first goal for Newcastle and it was a shame it hit the bar. But it gave me some confidence and now I will try more shots.”
