maze
I'd take Laudraup. But unless Ashley does a 180, it really doesn't matter who gets the job.
Peppe
If we got the best manager in the world (whoever that is), would that change anything though? The board would be like "woah, woah!" if we started closing in on the EL-places and they would then sell off enough players to ensure we'd finish 12th. Dokko
Kevin Keegan believes that Mike Ashley’s “bullish” interview is a hint that the Newcastle United owner has a new head coach already lined up. The former Toon boss identified Michael Laudrup as his own personal preferred choice but feels that Ashley’s rare public interview should be encouragement that big changes are around the corner. Keegan, speaking to beIN sports, said: “I think he’s got somebody lined up as he was quite bullish in the interview. I’ve got a feeling with the way he was talking before the game, he’s already got someone. “I would put Michael Laudrup top of my list. What that would do is guarantee a certain type of football. What he did at Swansea is something the Newcastle fans want. They want to be entertained.” And Keegan feels that Ashley can win back over those fans that are against him. He said: “Ashley has got the money. If someone could just explain to him that if you get this right, everything that’s been against you, it will swing full circle. “He had people between him and me that he didn’t need. I told him that. That’s why it didn’t work. I know the guy who he’s got running the club - Lee Charnley - and he needs someone else with more experience.”
Guest chopey
But if Charnley goes who will type all the letters and take dictation

Keegan knows more about football than all Ashley's lickspittle employees put together.
Tiresias
Just had the horrifying thought Brendan Rogers may be available shortly albeit he would improve us a fair amount, just that personality...

LoveItIfWeBeatU
I'd like them to go for Klopp even if he'd more than likely say no. At least approach the best option available before moving on. Apparently Dortmund were in a similar position to Nufc when he took over. They also ran to a limited budget. Ashley could afford to back him. He's even available without having to pay a compensation fee. Better to ask than never ask and never know.

Worth a go, incredibly unlikely but his stock is lower than it's been for a while (and is likely to be again) after a less than stellar Dortmund season. Like you say, go for the best and work down the list.
EthiGeordie
Lets get carried away and be excited until they hire Carver or McClaran. Lets be excited this is the only time we can put up our tails and dream of someone big. Klopp or Laudroup.
gdm
I have no doubt it will be Mclaren, it's not gone unnoticed on Twitter that David Craig who interviewed Ashley for sky has the same PR guy as Ashley (funny that) and listed in his achievements are that he broke the story of Mclaren getting a job twice (and rather classless announcing the passing of Sir Bobby) Coming together nicely for them you could say http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/just_boy_uk/A7F77280-541F-48FF-BC93-B5B58F788C1E.png
Nobody
We really need to start building for the new season fucking NOW. They've had six months to find a new manager, this should be done and dusted in the next day or two. Obviously that won't happen and we'll linger and #wait and then still just give it to fucking Carver or Schteve.
sempuki
We really need to start building for the new season f***ing NOW. They've had six months to find a new manager, this should be done and dusted in the next day or two. Obviously that won't happen and we'll linger and #wait and then still just give it to f***ing Carver or Schteve. Now sounds good. We need two CBs, a LB, CM, winger and 2 forwards imo.
