Bit of a pointless exercise lots of this. What is the point of banners of Ashley out of our club etc.......He bloody owns it and will do whatever he wants, it is his club not ours. He will select a manager that suits his needs and future plans. Football has changed, managers do not exist in the old sense, they are now coaches. The people above choose who to buy, who to sell then it is up to the coach to get the best out of those players in terms of results and hopefully increase their value so that they can be sold at a profit. Probably the last manager I remember being given cart blanch to buy and sell was David O'Leary at Leeds. Bought a team to win the champions league and it totally backfired, a disaster they have yet to recover from.

The whinging on here about us selling our best players and so on makes us look an absolute joke, did Manu not sell their best player Ronaldo, Liverpool and Suarez, Spurs and Bale? It goes on all the time because it is a business, it is not run to satisfy the whims of deluded supporters and the sooner we realise and accept that the better.

Before you start to bleat, I am not new to this forum and I have supported Newcastle for over 60 years.

It's "carte blanche" not "cart blanch" jackyboy. You're missing a couple of "e's".

Maybe you swallowed them before posting.

If I had a choice I'd give this Paul Clement geezer the job:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/12/paul-clement-english-coach-real-madrid

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24032226

He understands the European "coach" job, that's what he is now.

But I don't and we'll end up with someone terrible.  :(

If it is basically the same job that he is doing now, he would be insane to leave Madrid to come here.

Insane is a pre-requisite for this job, no?

This is very terrible.

Its got the lot.

The holy trinity: deluded, Leeds and pitiful acceptance of fans not having any say whatsoever. Genius.

It needed a Portsmouth for a full house but not a bad effort. B+

I have a problem with coaches that haven't been the main man before, a head coach isn't so different from a manager, they still have to be a leader, it's arguably the most important requirement. A great coach could still be a pretty poor head coach.

Be very happy to have hoddle in for the rest of the season as mentioned in a couple of the rags. Then one of Tuchel, Galtier or de boer in the summer.

Definately pleased with garde, Galtier or Tuchel though. The latter seems the best.

My issue with giving the gig on a temporary basis to anyone, especially an outsider (e.g. Hoddle), is that a couple of wins and both he and Ashley will be thinking "this is good enough..." and will give him a Pardew contract of hooplicks and peanuts for the next 8 years. This is a possibility, and it's terrifying. I'd rather keep Carva in until end of season and hope he keeps us up.

Obv things change but I do recall on sky before Sherwood got appointed Hoddle saying that Spurs were the only team he'd join as manager on a temporary basis

His name has come up when a few clubs have a managerial vacancy and he's always said he's not interested. This is all just baseless speculation, he won't be manager here either temporarily or full time.

Hoddle looks crazy in his recent photos. What's happened to his skin?

Did you not see him in Miami for England's pre-tournament friendly, he looked like he had heat stroke, dripping with sweat and holding an imaginary microphone.

They'll hand Carver a permanent contract if this happens.

Long time lurker and even longer fan but i agree with these points. Why does any fan think they can change MA? And tbh - why would they? Simple question - what do you guys want? I agree ambition in the cups would be my no.1 but aside from that i would rather him as an owner than 90% of the other owners. I'd love ambition but realistically there is a limited amount of people who can spend unlimited money on players these days - Man Utd try to win the title and spend £150mill or so and are still no-where near. Football has lost its soul and we aren't the only fans suffering.

PS - my choice for manager - still Steve Mac. Top coach and will get the best out of our youngsters which is the one thing i still enjoy most.
