themanupstairs
He's a typical 442 striker that will do the donkey work for the main goalscorer, in our case, Cisse. Pardew starts Shola instead Gouffran ready to come on, Pardew takes off Cisse The lad's been here since January and we're yet to see him used properly. He will create space for his partner, and can link up play nicely. He's nothing flash or top tier, but I'm confident he can be effective.
Guest Haris Vuckic
Cisse has been utter shite for ages tbh & he was worse than useless yesterday. Pardew's mistake was starting him, not taking him off.

I think Shola's ages trumps Cisse's ages bonny lad Pardew was approaching the right idea by finally realising Cisse cannot lead the line on his own. Fucked it up by starting an ageing lumbering Shola Ameobi next to him. Can't remember a single exchange of passes between the two of them.
Guest Haris Vuckic
I think the idea was to use Gouffran as an impact sub, utilising his pace etc, whilst Shola probably expected to be used up front whilst defending set pieces etc. Ideally we would have Gomis/Bent or even a fit Remy but we have Shola, Gouffran & Cisse (who hasn't had a shot on target for four games)

As for starting a 6' plus center forward so he can defend set-pieces....I don't even know where to start....
Guest Haris Vuckic
If you were in any position of influence you'd start by buying a striker & sending Shola to the glue factory.

Let's field a weakened strike force so we can play our strongest 11 for the last 20 minutes. Do goals scored in the first 70 minutes not count, like? Don't even get me started on fielding a fucking striker to defend set pieces. Sure other teams have a set of players to defend set pieces. Can't remember what they're called but there's probably a clue in the phrase 'defend set pieces'.
Guest Haris Vuckic
He's obviously going to attack them as well. and Yanga is fairly hopeless in the air.

Guest Recoba
Id like to see him given a run through the middle.
Guest icemanblue
Seems to take forever to get set to hit a shot. He had a real chance, towards the end of the game, when Anita played him in on the edge of the box. Just needed a single touch then shot, but he dallied and a defender got across to make the block. Might just be a confidence thing. Doubt the miss at the end will help with that, like.

Klaus
Missed a sitter today, but i still like the lad. Grafts his bullocks off and was unlucky not to score near the end, a very good player to have in the squad.
Guest bimpy474
Great movement, good on the ball, can't finish.
AyeDubbleYoo
Great movement, good on the ball, can't finish. He can shoot, just seems to struggle with the instinctive stuff.

My mate a few posts up said it and got it spot on, he takes an age to get a shot away. He'll get some goals but he's no proper finisher.

Guest bimpy474
He put a lot of energy in our play form the left, we looked dangerous down that side for a change.
Gallowgate Toon
Very direct and moved well off the ball. Surprised he missed that header, he's a much better striker than that.
Darth Crooks
He has been a breath of fresh air in our static side each time I've seen him play tbh. Industry, decent place, tidy footwork. Gusta.
alexf
Just not an out an out striker even if he wants to be. Think we should use him how we are at the minute. Either start from the left or come on against tired leg in an attacking postion and use his pace. Poor attempt at the header today and we'd be cursing him if it had cost us the three points but he does bring alot to the team with his movement and speed. Well played Gouff. Cajun
He's played how many games as an out and out striker? He certainly improved massively in France when moved there.
relámpago blanco
I'd like to see him start wide left next game benny righ cisse and remy through the middle with sis solo and Anita central
Guest icemanblue
Remy and Hatem will get the headlines, but he was very good when he came on. Missed two sitters, but never stopped running and looked a threat with the ball. Some strike at the end too.
