He's done extremely fucking well to hold down a job in the media, given his every utterance is like pepper spray.

NEWCASTLE United boss Alan Pardew has controversially named a weakened side for tonight's Europa League quarter-final second leg with Benfica.

In a move that suggests he is prioritising Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland, Pardew has recalled Mike Williamson and Gael Bigirimana for a game the Magpies must win by at least two clear goals if they are to progress.

Williamson is surprisingly preferred to James Perch, who is on the bench, and will partner Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in the absence of injured duo Steven Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini.

Bigirimana gets the nod ahead of Sylvain Marveaux, who is also on the bench, and will play in a deep-lying midfield role alongside Vurnon Anita.

Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko will be given licence to push forward in support of lone striker Papiss Cisse.

I'm sorry, I'm seriously not buying it. Resting 2 players who quite often don't feature is not playing a weakened side.
