Reading through some of the predictions about Suarez and/vs Carroll from Jan 2010:

- Have to say my first thought when I saw the fee Liverpool had agreed for Suarez was "over priced", might be wrong, I suppose we'll see soon enough.

- Has the look of a potential Kezman about it...

- Carroll's proved that he's pretty fucking dynamite in the PL. Suarez hasn't, obviously. He's looked good in a poor league and against poor players in the WC. Obviously, Carroll is by far the safer bet for PL clubs.

-Suarez's physical attributes, combined with his pedigree, technical ability and obvious goalscoring instinct, makes him a better player than Carroll, in my opinion.

Edit: It's his combination of strength, pace and technical ability - physical attributes - that impresses me the most. That's what I should have said. Apologies.

Argentina vs. England in 2002 on ESPN Classic.

Trevor Sinclair and Danny Mills in the World Cup, man.

It's unfathomable how we haven't won a major tournament tbf

So 1966 didn't happen?

The CAS has upheld Málaga's one-year continental ban. Feel sorry for them, but FFP would have died even before it was fully in effect if CAS had overturned it.

tbh I have issues with FFP, in theory its great if looked at just on the surface but when you take into account just how much extra the champions league cash brings for those in there in reality its just setting the status quo in stone

It is, but that's more an issue of EL/CL revenue structure than the FFP itself.

and the big european clubs will not allow any threat to alter the CL money to go down or more evenly spread out.

Fighting for 4th place is something achievable and something one can try to work towards to (in Spain 3rd and 4th places are very open, look at Real Sociedad this season for example), compared to just waiting and hoping a sugar daddy takes a liking to your club. ManU and Chelsea wouldn't have cemented a Top 4 place with a working FFP policy.

Not that I'm denying that revenues shouldn't be adjusted, but that will be hard to achieve in the short term at least.

La Liga table if only goals from Spanish players counted.

:iamatwat:

Is that for real? Just shows how many 'important' goals Messi scored then tbh.

Nothing new that RM were relying on Ronaldo to score the goals.
