Pilko
Best time to have an away trip to one of the big boys is on the opening day, especially with their new manager.
Ryan
Carroll scoring on return to SJP with West Ham. You heard it here first. He'll still be out injured, thankfully.
Ketsbaia
Nasty opener, nasty finish, the derbies are too close together but at least we're at home on Boxing Day. Good run after City as well.
alexf
I know anything can happen on opening day but I fear the worst. We could still be in disarray, they could have a whole host of multi-million pound players to show off plus with a new manager who will want to show he is a more exciting attack-minded coach compared to Mancini. Plus with our last few visits there I fear an absolute arse-tearing raping.

Kanj
Had this mental image of Spurs (h) to start last season and being in NYC at Legends' Football Factory and going mental with Toon Army NYC and having this through-the-roof optimism. Oh hell...

Guest bimpy474
Well i hope we actually go to Man City and try, not like last time. Pardew should have been sacked for that performance and attitude alone.
Ketsbaia
My hope is that because of early season rust, Man City will restrict our bumming to a 2-0. Which is fine, really.
BillClinton
When's the last time we started out with an 'easy' game? We've had Manu, Arsenal, Spurs, now City to start since we got promoted. Even in the Championship season we had to play West Brom first.
Ketsbaia
Relegation season we had Man Utd as well. The last one was 07-08 when we started at Bolton - so 6 years ago The fixtures are definitely rigged, like.

BeloEmre
I would rather play Man City in the first round than in the middle of the season when Pellegrini has got the team used to how he wants to play.
nemtizz
True. Good to get it out of the way. It's not like the first game has any bearing on a season anyway, look at last season - At FT I was thinking "Europe again boys".
