triggs
An American owner needs a new coach to save his club from relegation. He appoints a disinterested, semi-retired foreigner with an abrasive militaristic personality to manage the club's ill-fitted group of mercenaries, cokeheads and paedos FYP
Unbelievable
Dick Advocaat Sportclub Telstar @sctelstar · 6m 6 minutes ago @SAFCsource BREAKING! Advocaat and assistent Petrovic on their way to Sunderland tonight. In front of the group tomorrow morning. Sportclub Telstar @sctelstar · 6m 6 minutes ago @SAFCsource Johan Derksen, one of main Dutch football journalists, just confirmed it live on tele. Former director Woerts set it up. #safc You might be able to confirm/deny that. Nothing in the Dutch media yet. Derksen is the chief editor of vi.nl, so if true they would have carried it

ponsaelius
Advocaat's Zenit were one of the best footballing sides I've ever seen. Seems to have bounced between jobs every 5 minutes being largely unimpressive outside of that.

Unbelievable
His reputation in Holland is that he will do anything if he gets paid enough. Should fit in well. I don't particularly rate him as a manager. His defining moment as NT manager was taking off an unstoppable Arjen Robben vs Chech Republic in the 2004 Euros, resulting in a 3-2 loss after leading 2-0. Wouldn't want him here, even in our current predicament.

Scotty66
Can currently lay Dick on Betfair at 1.5. Betfair's rules say the next manager is who takes charge for the next 10 domestic games. With only 9 games left and as long as he leaves at the end of the season there could be some money to be made. Tempted to lump some on but still not sure. Also wanted to warn anyone who may whack a load on backing him thinking it's easy money

Ketsbaia
They have a strong history of dicks in charge, so it was only really between Advocaat and Richard Money.
ponsaelius
Really won't take much to keep them up. Advocaat will win them a couple of games + the gimme that is the derby.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
Nick Barnes, their BBC Newcastle commentator, explained on Total Sport earlier that apparently Advocaat gets on with Frank Arnesen, who in turn still talks to Lee Congerton, their DoF, so that's where the link seems to have stemmed from FWIW. Ketsbaia
I just can't see them staying up. Even if they beat us, they'll still need another 3 or 4 points.
ponsaelius
I just can't see them going down. They were nailed on last year and still put the wins together, the competition at the bottom is even worse this year.
Ketsbaia
There are three awful sides below them, I guess, but last year's survival was based on team spirit and momentum - 2 things they definitely don't have now. Their midfield is truly shocking, especially without Johnson.
