Conjo
For what its worth, the same guy also mentions Romain Alessandrini and Maxime Lestienne. Currently knackered with an ACL injury. Stats say he was banging them in for fun prior to that. Contract runs 'til 2016. Lestienne played for Brugge against us, seemed alright. Contract runs 'til 2017. Both listed as left wingers. Looks like Robert in his playing style. Would bang.
Dave
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2363781/Newcastle-United-set-bid-6million-Aston-Villas-Darren-Bent.html Newcastle plan to step up their efforts to sign Darren Bent from Aston Villa with a £6million offer expected this week. Manager Alan Pardew will hold talks with director of football Joe Kinnear today when he returns from holiday in Italy. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/10178860/Joe-Kinnear-to-sit-down-with-Newcastle-manager-Alan-Pardew-with-Darren-Bent-top-of-agenda.html Kinnear has returned from a pre-arranged family holiday in Italy and is scheduled for pivotal transfer talks with Pardew, the Newcastle United manager, almost a month after his controversial appointment at St. James' Park. The pursuit of Aston Villa forward Bent is certain to be on the agenda, with Pardew expected to push Kinnear into making their first official move this week, possibly before Newcastle fly out for their pre-season tour of Portugal on Wednesday. Cajun
I have no doubt this is a goer and I am happy with it IF he is competing with Cisse. The two together will make Cisse and Ba look like Shearer and Bellamy.
Away Toon
I can't see any good reason why Bent would want to take a 30K a week pay cut to play for us.

Ronaldo
I have no doubt this is a goer and I am happy with it IF he is competing with Cisse. The two together will make Cisse and Ba look like Shearer and Bellamy. Ba and Cisse benefit from two totally different types of service. Plus, Ba wouldn't be a good partner for anyone due to his selfishness except a Leon Best type happy to do the donkey work.

Guest Phil K
...............except a Leon Best type happy to do the donkey work. We miss Leon. Won us over, and always put a shift in, improving all the time, then unloaded. 'Spose his injuries didnt help, and seemed to get worse after leaving
Kanji
Leon's hat trick that first start he had for us that night was fucking brilliant, chills down spine type performance from him. Miss the fella so much.

Ronaldo
Ba will never play better football than when he had Best alongside him, that's for sure.
Guest bimpy474
Should have kept Best and sold Shola tbh.
Cajun
Should have kept Best and sold Shola tbh. At the time the offer sounded too good to turn down but I would give the money back if we could.
Kanji
Totally underrated by so many out there - he had some real tricky feet and was strong too.
Stuy_O
Best was a decent player, as said had very good feet. His reading of the offside rule was almost as bad as Cisse's though.

Yep, i don't ever rememeber Besty letting us down, some of his goals with his footwork were brilliant, and had they been scored by someone like Rooney, Mata, Van Persie etc, pundits would have been raving. Rather liked him, i know he was limited but it was nice to have striker who didn't give a foul away every time he went near the ball.
