SEMTEX
Last time someone asked if a 1 had been missed from the thread title. I think this applies once again. Despite all the issues at the club, I still feel like we can realistically hope to finish higher than 41st.

JJR99
To be on the optimistic side. 1 - The side did finish 5th (and if not for a stupid throw in, would have finished 4th) only two seasons ago. 2 - That side is arguably worse than the side we are running with this season. 3 - They no longer have Europa league games, therefore the risk of injury and tiredness is lower. 4 - Many of the Jan purchases will be better adjusted to the team, tactics and style of English football. 5 - Pardew should have a real fear for his job, which might see him be more open with his tactical decisions. Of course in saying this, the negative side could take up a few pages.
Teasy
There's positivity and then there's utter delusion Its a dream, probably a 100/1 shot. Nowt wrong with a bit of light hearted positivity though, this place needs it. But fair enough maybe race for 5th would have been better

Which bit us in the arse a fair bit last season.

geordiedean
Where is the Relegationometer? As I believe this club has it written all over it this season. No strengthening on a team that finished 5th bottom and bar Jose bosingwa we would have been playing championship football this term. Couple that with letting players leave weak as piss squad...2 fit strikers 1being shola. No creativity and no fight..Williamson still here and Jonas a guaranteed starter and to top it all off at some stage in the next 9 months I firmly believe JFK will be our manager I honestly think we will fail to win any of our first 6 games resulting in pardew being sacked and you know who taking over

Troll
We're not going to battle for survival you pussies. Agreed, we'll go down without even putting up a fight. 5 - Pardew should have a real fear for his job, which might see him be more open with his tactical decisions. More likely is he tries to tighten up even more.

OzzieMandias
There's positivity and then there's utter delusion Think of it as a balance to the general tendency of wallowing in the worst-case scenario, trying to be gloomier and more self-pitying than the last poster.
