They'll have a 5-10 minute spell here, long as we don't do what we did last season there when that happens and shut up shop, we should be alright.

Indeed. Actually starting to look like a decent counter attacking outfit. It's no coincidence with the inclusion of a lively forward and a cool headed intelligent DM.

Should be 2, but that was decent. Hope we keep it up second half. That's by far and away our best XI, imo.

Agree with the exception of Cisse who hasn't imposed himself on the game (/for a while). Would rather have Gouffran over him atm.

Happy with that tbh, although i wish we could keep it up when we get a lead more often.

Far too often once we get a lead we drop back into 2nd gear, get the feeling we could win comfortably if we move up the gears.

We need to do that in games like this and finish teams off when we are on top.

Can't allow them to get back into the game.

Who knew playing a 4-3-3 without 2 of the shittest midfielders in the PL would lead to much better football?

Stroke of genius from Pardew, if only we'd thought about it sooner.

That's why he's manager, and we're just fans with unrealistic expectations.

At times, it feels like we're playing with 10 men.

We seem to have lost our shape a bit since the goal. Villa look bright on the ball and I think we'll need another one.

Canny so far, they're no great shakes.

Little concerned we don't have a left winger, though.  They could well just stick 2 on HBA second half.

Think it's quite obvious Villa are better suited to those quick passing moves on the counter-attack - which is what we've ended up doing. Good work so far.

Be surprised if Lambert doesn't change things up at half-time, and invite us on to them a bit more.

Yea this would explain their poor home record to be honest.

They prefer to play counter attacking football to utilise the pace of their front three.

Apart from the last move of the half we did nothing after the 1st goal, typical us. Our CB's are having possession for too long and too far up the pitch for my liking, it should be distributed quicker. Also we need to move the ball across the pitch when either Remy or Ben Arfa are doubled up on, that way we can exploit the other wing which is free.

We need to be the ones controlling possession like we did before our goal because Villa are getting a little too much for my liking. If we want too we could be in full control of this game.
