Sporting finishing 3rd is essentially them finishing bottom of their mini league at the top, and Olympiakos are basically Celtic where it's a waste of time for anyone else turning up. From the Hull front office perspective they needed someone from abroad that wouldn't necessarily know the turmoil happening within the club. They sold one of their best players to us and bought nobody decent to improve on a team which finished 4th in the Championship last season.
