Never staying up when they appointed, never a guy you want in the Championship. Them and Leicester deserve back to back relegations for how they've been this season, yet will use the Prem money to inflate themselves to a title march. I feel sorry for Leicester. Title win, FA Cup win, dared to upset the big 6 for a few years. One bad season and it derailed them. Could happen to any of the likes of Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth through little fault of their own. One season where their model has a few duds and it's all gone. One season where their model has a few duds and it's all gone. Their situation is more akin to Everton, Villa and us. Brentford and maybe Brighton have low wages. They would be back up with a relegation and be able to spend to stay up. Leicester's wage bill is still crippling them. They've been making poor decisions though. RVN was always going to fail. Cooper can at least get some team spirit and have the team working hard for each other. RVN typical mediocre Dutch manager, no interpersonal skills, can't even motivate a pack of spaniels. Pending: Leicester 1 - Newcastle 0 But seriously if we can't beat these we don't deserve CL. If we can get an early goal their fight will disappear and the crowd will leave / turn toxic. Might not even be full tonight.

Pilko
Well, we can file Ivan Juric alongside other Premier League appointments such as Jan Siewert, Terry Connor and Nathan Jones who were parachuted into a doomed scenario where a Fergie & Cloughy joint ticket wouldn't have done the trick. Seemed an odd one at the time unless they were retaining him for next year's promotion push, now they're not it just makes no sense at all. Optimistic Nut
I guess the other danger to mid-clubs suddenly yo-yo'ing, is that they miss that and end up getting marooned like Swansea, Stoke, WBA, Blackburn, Sunderland, etc have. They need to probably keeping bouncing between the two leagues a bit and hope one appointment nails it, or they scrape 17th one year and get back out of the cycle. Seems to be getting more and more difficult if you go down, to re-establish yourself.
Decky
Promotion in the Premier League is becoming more and more pointless as every season passes. Obviously there's a financial benefit but the promoted clubs need an exceptional season to even have a sniff of staying up. They can't throw money behind the squad to improve it because the costs of going from the top of the Championship to mid table Premier League are well beyond what PSR allows. Forest went for it and got punished, now it's worked out for them in the long run but other clubs won't want to take the risk of points being deducted. Just look at the Championship table now. Sheffield United were a joke last season and now they're on course to come back. Just completely and utterly pointless as they'll clearly be getting smashed and sent back down next season if they do come up. Must be strange for the fans as surely the Championship seasons for these teams are more exciting than the Premier League ones and therefore getting promoted doesn't become exciting as you just know that you are going to get spanked the following season. WilliamPS
Well part of the reason it’s so hard for the promoted clubs is that the midtable teams are all currently well run, that will change and someone else will get a chance. The PL used to have some dreadful teams hanging around 13th-17th, including Brice era NUFC, I think having a competitive midtable is a decent offset to having the promoted teams being really competitive. If Potter sorts West Ham next season it might only be Everton that are an active avoid. Although this season was probably a bit too extreme

So you get to play big clubs instead of the likes of Plymouth every week, who gives a fuck though if you end up having 10 points after 31 games? Ipswich have spent £107 million, Southampton £122 million and Leicester £90 million, surely building on a promotion team they should be doing better. As others have mentioned. He won the FA Cup, finished 5th twice and finished 8th the season before they went down. The team they went down with should never have went down when you look at the teams above them (Barnes, Maddison, Tielemans, Vardy...), they made a calamity of a decision by not replacing Schmeichel properly in goal and it's set them back years. I feel like them spending stats are a massive misnomer like, thats not a massive amount these days, especially if you're someone like Ipswich, where 2/3rds of their squad last year where with them in League One. Especially when you think that £30M gets you a Patrick Dorgu, and all the other clubs in the league will be spending that amount (Roughly £100m) on improving their teams on top of their already massively advantageous Premier League squad. Seems a bit disingenuous using promoted team's spending as a stick to beat them with. After all, we've spent a fair bit but the fall back position has always, quite rightly, been "yeah, but look at the squad we/he inherited" Goes for those 3 teams as well. James
Let’s forget about Leicester before their last relegation, they went down as a ‘too good to go down’ team followed by a quick reset in the Championship quite similar to how we twice did it. Lots has been gotten wrong since they came back up. Losing Maresca was something they couldn’t avoid but Cooper was a good appointment, they would have at least run Wolves close had he been kept on. but instead they sack him for Ruud van Nistelrooy who is the worst Ruud to have ever managed a PL team
