I mean, they should've appointed him in the summer. Instead of wasting money and time on Lopetegui.

Could be a good gig for Potter, but comes down to the summer. Pacqueta finally gets his ban, they sell Bowen to raise funds, it's suddenly a team down a couple of levels where many other players are in their 30s and fans gagging to boo early doors. Enough there to work with in short term to get the confidence going the right way.

Without knowing loads about him I hadn't expected Lopetegui to be such a disaster. My recollection is that Wolves fans were sad and angry when he decided it was pointless him staying there. Did well there and Sevilla... seemed a clear upgrade on Moyes. Hasty decision or just obviously a bad fit?

Potter was too busy being an overrated greedy cunt and picking up his sack money from Fat Todd

I like Rooney for some reason

Same, played for Man U so automatically disliked him despite appreciating what a top player he was but for some reason I want him to do well in management, can't even explain why

In comparison seeing Gerrard/Lampard fail is amusing

Though he was as shit at Derby as he is most places, didn’t he gain a lot of goodwill from their fans for how much effort he put in during the club going near bust? He was sleeping in his office. Then stepped aside without a payout to help them get new owners in. Likewise, he didn’t take anything from Plymouth. Seems like a good sort, albeit tragically shit at managing.

Are his gardening leave payments about to finish from Chelsea?, he seemed to turn down a few opportunities and I always thought it was tied to his payout from them.

I thought he was awful at wolves and my Sevilla fan mate hated him for results and quality of football, so I'd say he's pony.

That's a great move from West Ham.

They will need to recruit the right type of player going forward but the likes of Bowen, Paqueta and Kudus will be breathing a sigh of relief.

Bet ya they sign at least one of Chelseas rejects this January. Someone like Badiashile (spelling).

I thought he would be a complete flop - never rated him

May be controversial but thought Moyes did a good job at West Ham. If they wanted to get away from that style Lopetegui seemed the signing of someone who has heard spanish and not actually checked what kind of football he played. He's probably better than what he has showed there though, it always seems team assembled with muddled thinking.

It's always the same problem though, they keep hiring managers who play a certain way and struggle to get out of the shit cycle.

You only have to look at Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford, Brighton, Ipswich to see you can be moderately successful whilst playing a decent style.

The biggest problem West Ham face is their players adapting from one style to another and their recruitment strategy changing. West Ham now need to sign younger, more technical players, they can't rely on Antonio, Soucek, Coufal and so on.

I dunno they have been fairly consistent in style for a while now, solid Moyes ball, not as negative as all that with lot of directness and some really good players at times, Moyes got them into europe, focused on that and did well in europe but diminished them in the league. They lost Rice, squad seemed bit diminished but Paqueta and Bowen have kept them with some threat. My defense of Moyes ends a bit there as did seem just to be slowly winding down somewhat regardless but Lopetgui hasn't really changed that, so I don't know if the players really have struggled to adapt or they're just a midtable team with midtable players who can have a good season but will rarely string them together.

You're absolutely right, Potter given time could change their style and that could be positive, or they could continue with lucky dip transfer policy and end up with a very confused squad. They're still the team most likely to buy some extremely average player based on doing alright at the euros, see Fulkrug, and call that a transfer window.

How would it be controversial, Moyes did a great job overall from relegation mix to 6th and 7th place finishes and a European cup.

General consensus still seems to be he's a boring bad coach. I agree with you.
