The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Steve Cooper sacked by Leicester

Rightly so, he’s done nothing to deserve the Bayern job. Nothing whatsoever. Honestly it can’t be underestimated how bad a job he’s made of it at Burnley this year. But, they see something which hasn’t been evidenced with his results, man management, tactics and motivation or player trading.

I wish him well but it seems absolutely staggering that Bayern paid nearly £11m to Burnley for the services of Kompany. If he was out of work and they picked him up for free it would still be a head scratcher but £11m? :cheesy:

Plenty of big names has gotten jobs they didn't deserve, on even less merit than Kompany, and go on to do great things.

Some football philosophies are more suited for players with more quality than what Burnley could muster in the PL. Think he'll do quite alright at Bayern.

Logic is the last Pep acolyte to go off on their own has his team in 2nd place to Pep. “Pep 3.0” in Maresca.

Primark Pep more like.

Where this fails is the number of seasons Arsenal had to give Arteta (and very nearly cut him) versus the likely time Maresca will be given.

While they may claim this one is for the long term, their fans are severely pissed Poch was binned, and if they have a shit season having once again sold all their homegrowns, the atmosphere there will be absolutely toxic and the loop will play again.

In the last 5 years, managers that have brought clubs out of the Championship automatically include Scott Parker, Xisco Munoz, Slaven Bilic, Chris Wilder, Paul Heckingbottom and Daniel Farke (twice).

Was coming into this thread to say Maresca is a daft cunt to leave Leicester after gaining promotion, But if its true Leicester fans aren't bothered by this loss fair play doesn't look like an upgrade on poch though

Aye, if Bayern think his philosophy matches theirs then he could be a good fit.

I hope he does, maybe Bayern hired him on the basis of what he did at Anderlecht to be fair. I just think Burnley must think they won the lottery getting £10.8m for a manager after they have got relegated. Bayern just seem to be throwing money at everything and hoping it works.

To be fair, it has worked for most of their history.

Amen. Looking forward to it.

With Maresca, I think the interesting thing is that, even though he just got them promoted, Leicester fans don't seem that bothered - a bit like you'd be if Steve Bruce just got you promoted.

Even taking into account the fact that almost all Leicester fans are a bunch of weird, whiney voiced, confused semi-yokels who point at planes and don't know how to do their shoe laces up, there's got to be something in that.

Anyone to Chelsea is destined to fail when the owners are signing players. That Moneyball movie has a lot to answer for.

And picking tactics, apparently

Don’t understand Kompany to Bayern tbh. Does he speak any German, is Muller retiring? He’s got a job on, they produced some horrific performances last season.

Spent many years at Hamburg before his move to the soulless ones.

Imagine if Chelsea gave him a 5 year contract so they can spread out his £10 million fee.

I think we can all agree the famous 'all for one and one for all' team spirit at Chelsea will help pull him through any teething trouble and make his first big job a roaring success.
