The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Vitor Pereira to Wolves

They have no problems creating or scoring goals. Their problem is conceding goals.

The thing the Woy has always been adept at is making teams organised and difficult to play against. He's about as good an appointment as they could make in their current predicament.

Agree with this.

It’s a really really solid appointment. They’ve got some good players and can create chances but they’re an absolute mess all over this field. Hodgson will sort that out.

I was hoping they’d go for a more risky choice.

I’m not particularly frightened of that appointment to be honest. I don’t think they have the quality palace had. However, he will tighten them up. We just need to focus on us, hodgson is neither here nor there.

Wonder how far in advance do they start putting out feelers?

Like now are they currently on to Frank Lampard saying keep Easter free as he might be needed? They always seem to have the next manager in place within a day. Crazy structure.

Not particularly enthused by them appointing a bona fide survival specialist; in fact I'd go as far as to say that they're now favourites for 17th at this precise moment, though that could change depending on our activity in the transfer market this week.

We really need to hope Brentford and Leeds get dragged into this fight. Everton present an opportunity for points in the immediate-term but they'll definitely pull away; they've far too much quality and are primed for a new manager bounce a la Villa.

Not surprising to see Watford sack Ranieri, as everyone knows the Pozzos are ruthless and don't buy into the 'manager needs time' thing. Am surprised they've gone for Hodgson though as he's basically the anthesis of their normal appointments. He'll be gone by the end of the season.

Hodgson is a fairly inoffensive type, and Watford have made some decent signings. All he really needs to do is get them somewhat organised and not piss them off.

Thought Hodgson had retired. Don't know why he'd take a job at that basket case of a club other than obviously he must just miss managing and wants a localish job.

Bad news for us tbh.

Ranieri is probably the nicest bloke in football, and has a pretty good pedigree overall. If he's managed to piss them off then Hodgson will probably last 10 games

Last one they did against their usual type was Nigel Pearson and he did pretty well but then they sacked him for no real reason

I always think of Woy as a doddering old dear type who wouldn't offend anyone, and Ranieri as a bit salty, but I think that's just his humour. Could never make my mind up about Claudio, he always comes across well in interviews, but his results are always less than you would expect.

Well that's a bit debatable...who would have ever thought he would take Leicester to the title? Id say that was above and beyond anyone's expectations regardless of how weird that season was.

Leicester's title winning season was momentum, exceptional form from Vardy and all the top teams being inconsistent. Spurs finishing 2nd that year tells you everything you need to know.

I suspect Ranieri had the ability to keep those things going rather than any kind of tactical mastermind. Pardew finished 5th with us - sometimes all you need is someone who has the personality and capability to maintain that harmony and momentum.

Yep. It was a really impressive team effort built around exceptional circumstances.

Players like Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson won the league, doesn’t mean they are any good. Same with Ranieri.
