I would put money on Swansea being the next to get rid, and they replace Clement with Pulis, so all the old farts that never get relegated are back in position.

If everyone appoints a never been relegated manager, that record won’t hold for some!

They won't do much this season, so they'll be looking to stay up first and foremost.

They went for the cowardly but safe option.

Also short term, as he has a history of leaving a mess behind him. Just hope he takes a little time to settle in like he did with Palace and the Mackems, since we play them pretty soon.

I think they ran out of options, they seemed to want to appoint anyone but Allardyce.

Reports that it’s £6 million pound a year wages for Hippo Heed

Needs to give Unsy 10% of that for making them so desperate. Their results since Koeman got binned played a huge part in that salary.

18-month contract, allegedly £9m. That's a bargain when you consider the context; they'd be the most expensive squad ever to get relegated and Allardyce will ensure that doesn't happen. With that in mind it's a solid appointment, but so grim from the point of view of any Everton fan who sees the club as a potentially successful one. To go from having an exciting continental manager... to begging Allardyce to save them from relegation... all before Christmas... ouch.

As for West Brom, meh. Had no strong opinions towards them other than I've always liked their kit and The Hawthorns is a pretty cool ground. Now I hope they burn.

Allerdyce appointment as a short term thing makes sense, they've looked fairly shite all season so just need enough to stay up and look to improve next year though they'll need a striker and some actual pace in the side. You can be sure the price went up by a few million compared to when he had ruled himself out a few weeks ago.

If it's only for this season, I can actually understand Everton going for Fatty. They were an absolute mess on Sunday, as bad as I've seen us been at our worst. Get him in, organise the defence, stay up and see what's available in the summer.

What an unusual to see headline. Fair play to him, does what he wants clearly.

It's a family tradition apparently.  One of the toughest races in the world so fair play.

I now want Everton to go down in order to put an end to Big Sam the PL survival specialist.

Then again, he’d probably get another PL job a few months later!

To be fair, if I was all about just staying up, he’d be top of my hit list, bit long term? It’s going to be mid-table, ugly football, lots of money spent and then the inevitable sacking or parting of the ways. Everton are literally going backwards.
