The Managerial Merry Go Round™

Looks to be a talented young manager, and a quality signing, but you just never know.

I rate that Michael Edwards at Liverpool very very highly. I thought it quite interesting that they spoke to Amorim first and opted against going for him, before then pivoting to Slot.

Not sure if the reason for why they chose not to go for him was ever reported, but it did seem strange.

This does feel a bit like a flavour of the month signing.

The Premiership is full of excellent managers that he'll be competing against. I doubt whether that's the case with the Portuguese league. We'll see.

Can’t imagine anything better than a job you only have to do for a couple of years and you’re set for life when you get sacked.

How about being demonstrably shite for nearly 30 year yet getting payoff after payoff from clueless club owners?

Highly rated but who knows how that transfers to the PL.

Their squad for quality v expenditure is poor but they don’t have the financial restrictions we do but I don’t think they’re in a position to bin off lots of Ten Hags signings so the turn around might be slow.

Funny how they’ve not had a problem finding the compo to get him released immediately. Twats.

They were well within their rights to haggle with us mind, it's just the way they went about it which was annoying as fuck.

Reports in the BBC this morning that he was given a now or never make your mind up in 3 days or we look elsewhere ultimatum.

I wonder if that will have an impact on him, just seems a little bit like getting off on the wrong foot?, I also wonder who their next candidate was?.

Anyhow looking forward to him spending millions on unsuitable Portuguese players and finishing midtable while all the ex-pros wax lyrical about him for the rest if the season, fingers 🤞

Sporting had a release clause and we paid it. You made up a silly amount to try and play hardball and it backfired and you ended up getting a fraction of what you demanded.

Sir Jim played PIF like a fiddle. He obviously has a lot more respect for Sporting as they never tried to play silly buggers.

Fia-te na Virgem e não corras.

Bem-vindo Rùben!

Obviously a bit tongue in cheek.

People keep trying to act like INEOS are tight because they're streamlining payroll to a level similar to City and Liverpool, but truth is they've met whatever release clause or fee that has been requested by all selling clubs, with the exception being the utter nonsensical £20m stance for a sporting director.

I think the vast majority of your fans know you handled the situation poorly. So all I'm saying in response to your point is, the compensation money was likely always there, but Newcastle negotiating the way they did meant you received a much lower fee than you should and could have received.

I don't think you'll find many fans who think that like

Huge cost savings from stopping those lunch boxes for matchday staff [emoji38]
