He probably agreed to get rid of Nolan, Smith Harper and Barton as part of getting the job. Gets the job, does well the first season as he's done in most jobs, thicko's in the football sense Llambias and Ashley fell hook line and sinker after we finished 5th, boom 8 year contract. Now as it's started to all fall apart with 2 seasons of s*** football with the odd good game, he's blaming the Europa games or the players, or players he doesn't have. Maybe just maybe Ashley is beginning to see him for what he actually is. A s*** manager who shouldn't be anywhere near a job this big. Anyone with half a football brain can see how limited this bloke is, our style (lack of it), tactics, set penises, team selections, defensive set up that is so bad we concede ridiculous amounts of daft goals. Not even going to mention the mentalness of his bullshit in press conferences and in the media. Debts my arse, his bullshit worked and now it's all coming apart at the seams.
