Guest neesy111
I don't blame managers for waiting to be sacked tbh, football clubs fault for giving them a long contract / daft wages.
Raconteur
Fairy nuff. So, I was wrong - there are the odd cases of principled managers.
TRon
I think Souness was an example of a manager that hung around until he was sacked and got a massive lump sum in the process. Now he has simply became a part time pundit and has no interest in managing again. I can see Pardew doing the same, except he probably wont get as big a pay off. I detested Souness and he wrecked our squad, but I still think he was a better manager than Pardew. Just.
Pilko
Souness actually had some genuine injury problems too. Unlike the 'ten senior players' Pardew was missing the other week, which probably included Ba, Cabaye, Carroll, Kuqi, Barry Venison and Fumaca. Unlike the 'ten senior players' Pardew was missing the other week, which probably included Ba, Cabaye, Carroll, Kuqi, Barry Venison and Fumaca. Plus Souness didn't chop and change our style of play after every defeat. At least we attempted to play football, even if it wasn't very successful. His problem was that he was just a horrible person and not really a genuine coach.

LRD
So people have accepted pardew is now worse than souness? The situation on pardew is definitely more 'hopeless'.
Klaus
Souness did bring in Amdy Faye, Craig Moore and Albert Luque as well, what a guy.
Ashley17
Souness ripped apart a very successful team. I was fairly full of rage for him when he kept saying "It's ok, I'll go home to my family tonight" after blaming injuries on every fucking defeat. At least he took us to a semi final I suppose. JH
Didn't Roeder resign? Wey eventually anyway Just saw this on his wiki page: Under Roeder, Newcastle won the 2006 Intertoto Cup by virtue of being the furthest placed team to advance from the Intertoto Cup into the UEFA Cup. This made Roeder the first manager to win a trophy for Newcastle since 1969. Tad extreme
Skeletor
The thing with Souness is that every one hated him from day one. With Pardew it's been a gradual process where he won people over and then started showing his true, snake colours. Also Souness was nearly 10 years ago now but I always remember hating Souness more than any other manager we've had. If Pardew hangs on past this summer he will probably become my most hated though. Pilko
If I remember rightly it wasn't a trophy, but more a spare bathroom floor tile from a builders yard with some shite about the Intertwotits Cup scrawled over it.

Ashley17
Absolutely nobody wanted Souness like, he was doomed from day one. To go from Bobby to Souness was just too much of a switch, something we've always been guilty of in the Shepherd regime. The entertainment of Keegan to dour Dalglish. No goals under Dalglish so time for some shexy football. Football not sexy enough so bring in an actual manager who achieved great things. Young squad got a little bit out of control so bring in massive disciplinarian. Disciplinarian upsets everybody so bring in soft touch who everybody likes. Nobody listens to soft touch so bring in somebody who has regimented backroom team and methods. Sell club.

huss9
just spoken to my mate. he and charnley were at a football tournament near Berwick with their kids. charnley and pardew both taken aback by the hostility on saturday. they never expected it to be that bad. charnley mentioned how it was even worse than last season when we were in a relegation fight! he still doesn't get it though, kept saying how we'd finished ninth! pardew really has taken it badly, badly shaken. though no indication of any thoughts of a resignation. told my mate about the behaviour of the stewards on sataurday and about that "headlock" photo. made him promise to mention it to charley when he next saw him. he wont discuss on the pitch stuff though. NG32
Wow. They really are clueless. It just gives us another glimpse into the thinking at the club. Ashley and his people are thick as fuck if tgey havent carried out any internal investifation as to why their "customers" are so pissed off.
