Surely lost in translation (so to speak). No way he wants his players to hear that. [emoji38]

"In [the last] ten games in Premier League, we won two," said Amorim. "Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me.

"We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.

"We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you [media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines."

Clearly not then. [emoji38]

That squad is so far away from being suited to him that it’s going to cost them multiple hundreds of millions to even play his system the way he needs to, and have it be effective. It’s another hell of an investment and commitment for a club that can’t spend money correctly.. just feels like the Man United manager cycle has begun again. He’s a good coach but he’s taken on the job of death [emoji38]

They continue like this and it won’t be long before the fans decide that it’s Amorims fault, and that he should be adjusting his system to be more pragmatic while he can. It’s inevitable.

Can't fault his honesty, at least he's owning it tbh. Seen plenty of little fucking worms, and a few fat ones, blame anyone and everyone before they face facts and take some responsibility and accountability.

Every single Manchester United manager since Ferguson has said this that and the other about the style and about rebuilding the squad. They all espouse  having to learn a different way of playing then they start having a few bad results and it's ffs  stick in the channels for the quick lads. I like Amorim, he seems an honest and genuine guy but that club is currently a basket case and some of the most experienced coaches in world football have struggled in the past decade or so. That dressing room seems poisonous. They need to do what Arsenal did with Arteta which is back him as they move the high earners who aren't performing out and they rebuild around talented younger players like Amad.

You can’t, but he’s not selling it fully, whether that’s because of english being a second language or him not being convincing enough. I feel for the guy, he’s been brought in at the wrong time and these players all have no fight in them collectively.

I reckon that's virtually impossible under the current PSR conditions, they need to sell players to raise funds for new ones, who's going to buy them and pay the ridiculous wages

Said it before, but I still don't really understand how this will ever go well.

He's already been found out to be totally tactically inflexible, and have no idea of any other ways to play.

Even if he does spend the hundreds of millions needed to adapt fully to his 'style' it'll not take long for teams to just learn how to play against them. Just look at Ange at Tottenham.

To be doing as badly as he's doing is quite impressive. It's honestly no better than just getting like Harry Maguire to pick the team and just see what happens each week.

I'd agree with that tbh

I think he's also pushing some of the responsibility onto the squad too. I get the fact he's asking a few of them to change their normal game and do slightly different things in different areas but they're just not producing. They either can't do it technically or they can't be arsed to do it consistently. They gave Liverpool a hell of a game at Anfield not long ago - was the system an issue for the players that afternoon? Yet so often they've looked like they just couldn't give a fuck. And if that's the real issue then that club is utterly fucked. You can change formations, managers, coaches but unless you gut the dressingroom then that stench will always be there. Like sewing rotten fish into the seams of the curtains, it's always going to stink

Didn't they try that with Solksjaer though.

Mourinho said it was his biggest achievement what he did at that club. They hounded him out.

They're running out of ideas and FFP will not help.

I think it's only going to get worse for them. It's a great watch.

Speaking of Sunderland and the often quoted premise that they don't care how shit THEY are as long as we're worse, is it small time that my frustrations over our progress are, somewhat, tempered by seeing Manure and Spuds in the mud?

Not necessarily, they are considered rivals as they are part of the so called big six, so the more they struggle the better

The sooner this big six nonsense gets shattered the better and both of those clubs struggling and finishing well outside the top 6 helps towards that

(Plus if you know any Man U fans personally then it's always extra enjoyable because growing up they were the most arrogant fans going by a country mile)
