If Man Utd were to finish 17th, would it be fair to consider this, pound-for-pound, the worst league campaign in a major European league in living memory?

West Ham in 2003.  Team contained the likes of David James, Sir Les, Defoe, Di Canio, Joe Cole, Kanoute, Glen Johnson, Carrick, Bowyer.

It’s Juve getting relegated in terms of prestige etc even though they didn’t actually have a bad league season

Although AC Milan have had a couple of lower half league finishes particularly the Kluivert season and then in the 2010s.

Deportivo and Valencia are not as decorated as Man U but they’ve had plenty of bad seasons.

The vast majority of baiting and wind up posts from Froggy are in response to people tagging him trying to wind him up when they lose or similar.

People can’t have it both ways by winding him up and getting nothing back. It just so happens that he’s much better at winding people up than many on here.

I mean, the Internet is full of cunts, we established that a long time ago. I don’t see why we have the need to drag the whole place down in response. Just let it go. Everyone is pushing 40.

Blackburn, champions in 95, relegation in 98

Was a big drop off in the immediate seasons too.

Bombed a Champions League group of Legia Warsaw, Rosenborg and Sptk Moscow and were midtable in the PL 95/96 (previously been 4th, 2nd, 1st)

Were in a relegation battle as early as 96/97.

Does that not count as that European cup was taken away from them?

I thought it was initialy but at some point it seems to have became canon again - and the stripping never gets mentioned

I think the major difference now (due to finances) is that there is generally such a gulf within the top divisions that no established elite club should should really find itself in the bottom half, let alone close to the relegation zone.

It takes incredible mismanagement to get in that situation. And Man Utd are a fantastic example of that.
