In that time he had won 2 games (against 17th place Leeds and relegated Burnley), drawn 4 and lost 4, while going out of the FA Cup at home to Cambridge. Come on Bobby. Bruno sat on the bench through our massive streak after january, and he barely got minutes at all until there were only a few games left. Hey now, let's not do a disservice to Matt Targett. He was quality in that half season.

Man U were so bad they couldn't make Spurs, who were doing the footballing equivalent of curling up into a ball on the ground, Spurs it. Fingers crossed this gives Ange a few months at Spurs and stops Man U buying Delap or similar who could help them get out of this increasingly deep selfdug hole of theirs. Count yourself lucky not to have seen the 1st half as it was much worse. An absolutely tragic 45 mins from both sides

It's incredible how much they spend, with Ashley at least we could justify it with the fact he was a tight git, there's some big issues here with poor scouting and negotiating fees, as mad as it sounds, you'd begin to think it could be deliberate to covertly destroy them from within, I mean everytime I see the manager interviewed and particularly after a major final, he actually doesn't seem to bothered, smiles and acts as cool as a cucumber, is it knowing you get sacked you get a big payout? I also think it's completely fair to say that they have looked utter shit for the most part under him this far. Man Utd need a clear out and bring some fresh blood and energy in to the squad and they will be fine next season. Not challenging for CL places maybe but at least having a go at getting into Europe again. As fun as it is watching one of the traditional "big" clubs failing we all know this feeling as fans, we've been there as well too many times. It's fucking shit tbh. Add to that the slight problem with totally unlikable owners and an aging, overpaid squad and it's not much fun at all. As to the debate in regards to Howe vs. Amorim, it's blatantly obvious that Howe had a better first 7 months in the seat than Amorim has had whichever way you look at it. As well as totally unlikeable players and aging, overpaid owners.

The way he was moving last night though, risks being known as Trunkmiro.

Casemiro has been really good in Europe, but because of Ugarte doing all the dirty work beside him. Playing Bruno deep for the whole game last night was a strange decision, especially when he was really ineffective there. It also left Casemiro to chase back a lot, and he genuinely looked like he might die. Edited 8 hours ago by Froggy

Beren
Amorim has been dealt a really shoddy hand. There's virtually no steel in the squad. Maguire for all his many faults at least showed commitment. Fernandes was super disappointing yesterday. Casemiro tried, but he's on his last legs. Less said about Rasmus the better. (Not intended to rub salt in the wounds, Frog). They’ve managed to get worse under him. Although it is hard to properly judge because of them tanking for the Europa and how rigid he has been with his system. But then he has to take a lot of the blame there.

Forest have done it with a decent window. We showed top 4 form with 1 window. I don't think Man U have great players, it's a weak squad. But it's also not that bad. I think nearly every mainstay PL side is 2-3 transformational players away from a CL challenge + a good manager. We did it, Forest did it, Villa did it. And Man U will have the funds to land the next Palmer or whoever. Ultimately their ownership is their ceiling and they won't make enough good decisions to regularly challenge for titles IMO. But CL? They are only 2 or 3 good moves away from being at the door. All that "we need 5-6 players" is cope for awful management and culture. Not just the manager but everyone above him. Excellent culture and good coaching will have Jacob Murphy posting up 20 G/A in the PL.
mighty__mag
Steve Bruce would have finished higher in the league with that current squad than Amorim has. They ignored one of the greatest managers in the game (SAF) with his recommendation of David Moyes, thought they knew better, I do wonder how things might have been had they been brave enough to trust Fergie, and rallied behind Moyes. It's 24 points in 26 games Apologies, typed too quickly with fat fingers - meant 27 points in 28 games, not 47 points (I also forgot he actually had a watching brief for two more games than I’d calculated - so it is actually 24 in 26). So, it’s actually an even worse direct comparison with Howe. As for Froggy’s point re Howe’s January signings, Man Utd’s bench in Amorim’s first game cost £420m…
