West Ham 1 - 3 Newcastle United - 18/01/2014 - Post-match reaction from page 37

The season that means nothing continues aplomb. Good first half. Wish pardew would see the pattern and how we look like shit every time he takes Anita off. That relies on him swallowing pride and learning from his mistakes though.. Which normally only happens by accident when players are injured or several painful years later.

Cabs is beautiful.. Will be delighted I we can add cabella and De jong to this, just for the fact it might...MIGHT..push shola back out of the picture.

Awful. Score flatters us. Brilliant first half, dreadful the second. Had enough of Pardew's negativity.

The first half flattered them, we should have been 4 up.

Anyone else feel HBA wasnt giving his full commitment when he came on. Maybe getting a bit pissed off at being on the bench every week.

What's his incentive when he knows Shola Ameobi will be on twenty minutes before him without fail and never start?

Actually he did look like someone who was up for it. When he lost the ball a few times he was chasing back, harassing the player, a bit like Suarez does sometimes. I don't expect Ben Arfa to do the same defensive duties as Gouffran but if he keeps his mentality then we could see him back in the starting lineup.

Awful time to concede and the second half was really predictable. Then again, they are shit and missing loads of players, and that showed in their defending and the crapness of Cole and a clearly unfit Carroll.

Two super takes from Cabaye and Remy back on the scoresheet, losing run over and some *maybe* positive transfer news. Despite the iffy performance second half it's been a good day for us.

We should have been out of sight in first half, and then Pardew paniced second half and rather than counting on our quality went negative.

Krul - 5 - Looking pretty dodgy atm imo

MYM - 8 - Thought was fantastic at times, though out of position

Williamson - 6 - Not a great display from our defense, possibly unlucky for og, but should have been cleared

Saylor - 5 - does not look quality tbh.

Santon - 4 - Really needs to improve, he'd looked good earlier in season but looked a liability today

Anita - 7 - Kept us ticking over in first half, taken off in pointlessly negative move

Tiote - 7 - Thought at times great but then seemed missing in second half

Cabaye - 9 - Didn't receive support in second half, but head and shoulders over everyone else on pitch

Gouffran - 5 - Poor today, needs a rest perhaps

Remy - 7 - Looked hungry, should have had a hat trick mind

Sissoko - 6 - Not as energetic as normal, but think he misses Debuchy behind him, nice cross for goal mind

subs

Shola - n/a - 0 would be too good for him

Dummet - n/a - Didn't really have any impact

HBA - 5 - Not on long but looks short of confidence, mind won us the free kick for hte goal so gets plus points for that

First half was canny but as soon as West Ham scored their goal seconds before half time, you just knew that they were going to take the initiative in the second half and we were going to sit back. And lo behold, that second half was as stressful as ever which is something we really shouldn't be surprised about. Pardew is set in his ways and would much prefer to sit back rather than pushing up. He seems more happy to push up against the big teams rather than the smaller teams actually.

Great result though and it's great to get one over that c*** Allardyce, hope West Ham get relegated.

Excellent all around performance. Showed skill and flair first half then showed heart and carachter in the second. Goal on stroke of ht gave West Ham hope and belief, they missed two glorious chances but we handled everything they threw at us. Long ball after long ball but we refused to cave in. Promising performance showing the lads haven't gave up the season already and willing to fight for every point possible.

sick to my back teeth of pardews shite and pointless tactics and stupid subs

shola has been a good servant for the club but to rely on hiom to make any impact other than a facepalm from fans or for comedic value for the opposition is wrong. we need another proper striker.

get shot of that useless bag of shite cisse and shola and get somebody even half decent in

good result though cabaye was class and that free kick was a thing of beauty

Superb result. Match should have been wrapped up by half time.

I nearly threw a fit when Ameobi came on, but he wasn't THAT bad tbh. He put a calm foot over the ball a few times and got the play going. Still nowhere near enough, as he's just a woeful footballer.

Cabaye was the best player on the pitch, but yet again our shape goes to shit as soon as Anita comes off. I really can't recall any time this season when he's been on the pitch and we'd been pressed back into our own half. Maybe for little spells, but that midfield trio works together so well, and Anita is absolutely key.

Hopefully we'll get a run going now as our next two matches should be piss easy  ;)
