Deuce
Stoke: a club with Shaqiri, Affelay, Krkic, Van Ginkel, Joselu, Muniesa, and Arnautovic... ...and Jonathan Walters, Glenn Whelan, Charlie Adam, and Phil Bardsley.
BeloEmre
I have never got the fuss about Shaqiri. There, I said it. Agree. Decent player, but some people are talking like he's a world star. Did well in Switzerland, nothing special in Bayern and nothing in Italy. Could well be a good player for Stoke, but that's far from given.

Point is though we have Obertan starting for us If he's available for 12m i don't see why we shouldn't at least be interested.
BeloEmre
Obertan won't start many games for us this season. Everyone knows that.
BeloEmre
I would rather give Cabella a real chance than pay £12m for Shaqiri tbh.
Mole_Toonfan
Obertan won't start many games for us this season. Everyone knows that. I'd like to believe that but i'm not so sure.
taxfree
Obertan won't start many games for us this season. Everyone knows that. I'd like to believe that but i'm not so sure. Me neither. McClaren has talked about that Aarons is young and needs protection (bit of a pet hate of mine), while suggesting Obertan is the best way to counter good attacking full backs. He'll have watched the pace of Obertan, and him doing good enough in traning to make McClaren think he can make a good footballer out of him. He won't. SUPERTOON
Obertan won't start many games for us this season. Everyone knows that. He's very likely to start games for us since our only other winger is Aaron's who McClaren already said isn't ready to start.

Tbf i understand it, Rodgers did the same with Sterling but i would play Perez not Obertan.
Yorkie
How are Bristol City spending £6m on someone? That's pretty big money for a club that's never been in the PL.

LFEE
They have huge potential. Big city and no successful football team. Had a setback with the new ground iirc. Asda or Tesco pulled out of the deal i think.

Tbf Charlie Adam is a pretty technical player. He's not a clogger like his name suggests.

Village Idiot
Shaqiri is decent, but he hasn't performed consistently since he left Basel. It will certainly improve Stoke, but it isn't such a coup. Better players have gone to middling PL teams this season.
Guest
I would he's miles better than Colback and Anita. He's not better than Colback he's f***ing class. If he was called Pezzini Leiva we'd be creaming over him.

It will certainly improve Stoke, but it isn't such a coup. Better players have gone to middling PL teams this season. It isn't much different than Moses or Bojan playing for them, in terms of the level of player and the effect he'll likely have on the team. It is just that Shaqiri has been a big name for several years and Stoke are still looked down upon because of the Pulis era and being a relatively small club. The move stands out a bit.
