Guest JS
Liverpool are doing what Spurs did with their bale cash, signing a lot of good/decent players but not really get the world class replacement they require. To be honest at the time I thought Spurs invested well. It just didn't work out for them though. I thought Lamela was going to be dynamite. Lamela was/is brilliant like. When he ends up under a better manager or club, you'll see it again
Guest n4e
Ashley Cole in Rome now. I do like seeing English/British players playing abroad. Far too often there's that dreadful, media led insinuation that the Premier League is the only worthwhile league in the world. My point partly underlined by Clive Tyldesley's embarrassing call on Friday night when James Rodriguez was about to take his peno and Hulk was offering advice to Julio Cesar. Surely as a football commentator you should know certain aspects of European football, especially when commentating on the fucking World Cup. Not as if Rodriguez was an absolute newcomer. Tyldesley man Remember when Juve dicked on Chelsea and he couldn't shut up about how good Vidal played and surely he had shown enough to earn a transfer to a PL club. Acting as if all players should aspire to play here and the Champions league is some sort of audition process.

Anything more than 4 players straight into a first team isn't going to work. Because they need the CL depth as well they're going overboard. Tbh whatever the money I would keep Suarez for another 12 months, get another CL campaign cemented, then look to add another 3 top players in that Sanchez bracket. Guest bimpy474
Dusan Tadic to Southampton. He knows where the net for someone who plays off the front. Decent signing that.
LooneyToonArmy
In unsurprising news it seems like Man City are signing Willy Caballero. Looks like Hart will be seeing more of the bench this season. Caballero is class and should have been in the Argentina team (or squad at least) ahead of Romero.
Guest
Fulham agree £11m fee for McCormack. Ridiculous. Does this make him the most expensive Scottish player in history by the way?
LRD
Steven Fletcher was £12m. Unless you are specifically talking about Scottish-born players.

LRD
Not a lot for 2 strikers by today's inflated fees tbh. Especially if an average of 11.5m gets you two strikers that can score goals in that division and significantly improve your chances of gaining promotion to the cash cow league at the first attempt. KaKa
£11m for McCormack who is only proven in the Championship Remy is available for £8m this summer. We've just signed the captain of Ajax for just over half of that £11m fee. That is really disturbing.
LRD
Why is that disturbing? Remy is available for that fee because of his clause. De Jong went for that as he wanted to leave with a year left and had an injury-prone year, and whether he performs up to expectations is still anyone's guess. Just because we shop in the bargain bins doesn't mean that other clubs paying an average fee for a striker by today's standards should be laughed at. LRD
Does it matter? We shop in different windows and Fulham willing to pay the on-going rate while we keep to 1994 fees doesn't mean they are crazy.
