Pilko
If it's an £11m bid on a player they want £15m for then that's just about filed under "negotiating" as opposed to "taking the absolute piss" iyam.

Guest alijmitchell
Well, it is probably fair to say we have pissed them off already, and we are unlikely to get him, BUUUUUUT, if by some miracle he came here, he would be absolutely fucking amazing
SiLvOR
Never seen him, what's his playing style like?
geordie jamie
Well we don't have long to negotiate with deadline in 48 hours. I just can't see him signing and we only get Luuk de Jong

mrmojorisin75
have sneaky feeling on this one, that the lad will join if we're serious no basis to that whatsoever mind, and we're very unlikely to be serious either

Guest reefatoon
We are going to have to move fast if we want it to happen this window. Something our bunch just can't do.
Ikon
Lyon rejected a bid of 18m euros for Maxime Gonalons a while ago (Napoli) Can't see them selling for what we're prepared to offer for Grenier. They don't seem to be THAT bad financially.
Parky
They're not going to take any of this 11-12m bullshit. Waste of time.

ads
With all this shit about him being a contingency plan you'd think there would have been some form of contact with Lyon before hand...well you'd HOPE rather than THINK. Kinnear: "If Cabaye goes in this window we're interested in Grenier, how much?" Aulas: "£25m" JFK: "Fuck that. We'll go for Charlie Adam" or in actuality: JFK "If Cabaye goes in this window we're interested in Grenier, how much?" Aulas: "£25m" JFK: "Can we announce we've made a 'substantial' bid but not let the public know how much? You know it won't be accepted, we know it won't be accepted, but it'll give the fans the impression we tried though" Aulas: "You make me sick" JFK: "I've won manager of the year 3 times cunt"
Pilko
Newcastle's transfer chief Lee Charnley and director of football Joe Kinnear have been briefed by Alan Pardew to get the deal over the line.
Dan Gleebals
They're not going to take any of this 11-12m bullshit. Waste of time. Can't even see Ashley sanctioning those kind of figures TBH. He would rather get 3 end of contract players for that, including wages and agent fee's. Has to be said, the lad does look worth the money though and at his age a reasonable investment. Get him for £12-14M would be a good deal IMO. His value, if he does well would certainly rise and equate to a profit in 2-3 years. Unfortunately, Ashley does not seem to share this view if past signings are anything to go by!
