With all this s*** about him being a contingency plan you'd think there would have been some form of contact with Lyon before hand...well you'd HOPE rather than THINK.

Kinnear: "If Cabaye goes in this window we're interested in Grenier, how much?"

Aulas: "£25m"

JFK: "f*** that. We'll go for Charlie Adam"

or in actuality:

JFK "If Cabaye goes in this window we're interested in Grenier, how much?"

Aulas: "£25m"

JFK: "Can we announce we've made a 'substantial' bid but not let the public know how much? You know it won't be accepted, we know it won't be accepted, but it'll give the fans the impression we tried though"

Aulas: "You make me sick"

JFK: "I've won manager of the year 3 times c***"

A phone call scenario . . . This shit just got real.

Midfielder, attacking minded. Would work well in front of Anita and Tiote. Has great vision and passing skills and is very good at set penises. Hes not as good defensive as Cabaye but he is a bigger lad. He has a very good left foot aswell.

Lyon's president said that this guy was worth "over 30 million" not too long ago.. While that is completely unrealistic they will still probably want more than what we offer.. It would be brilliant if it somehow happened though, he is an exciting player.

The Mirror are saying we have bid "£8m" for Grenier.#

This is a substantial bid for a 23 year old international creative midfielder????

I know we can't rely on the Mirror being at all accurate, but it does seem to be in line with our previous attempted transfer debacles.

There's enough JFK humour around here to fill three comedy festivals. Really thought out and original too - brilliant stuff.

Nonsense apart, this deal will be like every other one in the recent Ashley era - on his terms or not at all. After receiving advice, a maximum offer price will be decided based on the main criteria that the potential resale value can be assumed to be higher, or at least the same, as that paid. If that fits with the selling club it happens, if not it doesn't.

We get him cheap or not at all.

Ashley will look at transfer fee, agent fees, wages of the next 2-3 years.  If he is advised (ha ha ha ha ha!!!) that at the end of the next couple of seasons he could get all that back (and a bit more) in a transfer fee, then and only then in my opinion would he sanction it.
