What a classy little player, just so calm and good with the ball, and puts an effort without it.

That turn when he first came on and touched the ball! You can see the 4 Spurs defenders completely taken aback by it. One drop of the shoulder and he's pulling defenders out of shape. Magic.

The way he collected it in one move and turned Alderweireld inside out  with a drop of the shoulder was Suarez esque

It's how he scores goals (in an outfit that doesn't generate alot of chances as a team) and how he looks in open play, as you allude to (the technical fundamentals - first touch & turn, how smooth everything looks in general), that will secure a move to a club that wants to challenge for honours. Contrary to what somebody else thinks,  imminent transfers, and the potential for, aren't purely determined by stats.

He rinsed Alderweireld, sizing up and turning him man. Fucking Vertonghen had to ruin that by paying attention. Wish he pulled a Colo there and went missing or missed that tackle.

Anyway, can't stop watching Ayoze chest control to shot in one swift beautiful Suarez/Messi style early hit. Dreamy stuff.

One of the worst things about the Pardew era was to see our best and most skillful player not given a place in the team. One thing has been consistent under this dinosaur of a manager as well: there is always an excuse, always, for yanking or leaving this kid out of the team. Fucking bullshit.

Was ridiculous that he wasn't a starter at the beginning of the season. We started Obertan ahead of him FFS. Finally gets in the team and was very clearly one of our best players thereafter.

Now he's inexplicably dropped again. This time it's for De Jong, a guy who has literally never done anything to justify a place in the team.

My only guess is that he's a quiet, laid back character in the dressing room and McClaren sees him as someone he can leave out without risk of it causing problems.

It's bullshit.

Absolutely disgusting he's not the first name on the teamsheet every week. An absolute stain on McClaren's competence.

I thought it was OK dropping him to switch things up a few weeks back, but he really should've been back in after Spurs. He should definitely be on from the off, next week.

The cynic in me thinks low paid and highly valued, if he angles for a move - guess who wins again.

Yeah but surely if you were hoping to cash in you'd be able to get more for someone who was playing every week than on the bench, so you'd want him starting?
