Greg
Perez has 8 starts, 5 goals, 3 assists this season. Diame has 11 starts, 0 goals, 1 assist. If we're persisting with this #10 there's only one option out of the two who should be playing from now on. It's not as simple as that though is it? Rafa likes Diame away from home if Gayle is the one up front to his size and how he works off the ball. I think we'll continue to see Perez at home for Diame away in that position for a while. Perez will probably only play that position away from home if Mitro is up top (like as QPR).

Perez drifts out of the games far too much for my liking, yesterday 2 goals and an assist but I didn't notice him too much in the game.
Ikon
I thought that goals wins you games. As long as there's other players out there that makes the team tick And Perez is not at the level he's able to be at yet. He will be more involved once his confidence gets higher. It's almost as if whoever plays that role looks poor when Gayle plays up top alone.

ponsaelius
I would agree if his size was put to good use, it generally hasn't been. He doesn't put himself about effectively and the ball bounces off him most of the time. He's been at his best when games have opened up and he's had a bit more space to play with, putting in a couple of passable 2nd half performances. Of course Rafa's stubbornness with Diame is justifiable if we're winning games, and I'm generally not arsed in that case. But this #10 position is our biggest 'problem' at the moment. ponsaelius
Diame doesn't even drift in Stats are only good if they're backing up what you're seeing, and that lot looks about right to me.
Greg
Team balance and shape just as important as stats, its clear Rafa likes him especially away from home for those reasons. He's a better player than what he's been showing and hopefully he will start showing that on the pitch soon.

Figures 1-0 Football
Perez and Mitro are the biggest examples of why we're head and shoulders above anyone at this level. We have two players we can rotate into our squad as/when needed, who would walk into the starting 11 of any teams in this league and probably some PL ones too. Not sure what your point is, only 3 clubs go down and both players would get in more than 3 of those teams in the PL league. Therefore they are good enough to be in the league as they could play for teams who aren't going to go down.

Looking at the team sheets this weekend, you could argue they'd feature in any of the below teams: mackems, Hull, Swansea, Bournemouth, Stoke, WBA, Watford, Palace, Middlesbrough, Burnley. Perez mainly, but I'd expect Mitro to get in about 4-5 of them too.

They only play with Defoe, because that is all they have (other than a very poor option of Anichebe). Mitro would be a wet dream for Pulis, he'd make that team ahead of Rondon imo (who was frequently dropped last season). Ighalo has already been dropped a couple of times this season for not being good enough, although Deeney/Mitro wouldn't work. Pardew would have Mitro playing every week, although at LB or on the wing.
