Ayozé Pérez (now playing for Villarreal)

Only hypothetically of course, but I'd like to see him in a top team to see how he fared when surrounded by players of the highest level.

That said, playing alongside the quality of Rondon and Almiron shows how his game has already taken a step forward.

The amount of times he runs down blind-alleys has reduced significantly. Since Almiron came in he's played facing the goal much more. Loses it way less and he's scoring his goals. On pace for another 9-10 goal season but more importantly, he's really benefitting the team with his performances.

We can’t possibly allow him to leave like, he’s key to Rafa’s system. Finding a forward who works as hard as him is going to be almost impossible. Or if you’re Mike Ashley, actually impossible.

This is the thing. He's such a major component of the team.

Since Rafa came in.. maybe even since he's joined. I can't recall many periods of good form without him in the side. Sure, we've had bad runs, taken him out the side but I can't remember many patches of the good stuff without him contributing (in the PL especially).

So I don't know what a decent run of games without him looks like. He's rarely injured and that's a massive thing. Since he's joined he's played a minimum of 33 league games for us.

No matter the perspective on his performances up or down he's a key figure for us and him leaving will make a massive difference to the entire team. He's been fundamental to how we play for a long time now and we've not had to go without (for good and bad). He's so ingrained into the DNA of the side.

He's still a weird mixture of brilliance and frustrating propensity to run into too many defenders, but that header is typical of the type of winning goal he can produce from nowhere.

Don't want to take anything away from that Ritchie cross, but you wouldn't expect a goal from that, it was all in the anticipation and execution. He comes up with a few of those every season.

Great analysis.

Think he's just a very good instinctual finisher, and if there's an area for him to work on that would move him up a notch as a player, it would be his composure. When he has time to think he is slightly prone to errors. Work on that side of his game and he'd be playing in the Champions League nee bother.

He referenced it and his desire to get there a few times in his NUFCTV interview. Didn't sound like a guy who wanted to leave any time soon, though he ought to be chucking a transfer request in ASAP if Rafa doesn't stay, along with every decent player at the club.

Fuck the PL era. Pedro has scored more than 46 goals, in the top flight, for us.
