GeordieT
Alternatively he knows exactly who/what he is dealing with and doesn't take anything "club sources" feed him for granted after having been fed their PR s*** for years. He's almost certainly correct in this instance, as most people on here know/suspect deep down. Don't know about that - he has certainly reported him a contender. But when the story first broke he seemed to be genuinely angry about it. It's at the stage now, where you think that if there was absolutely nothing in it at all, that Vieira would have issued a denial. Particularly considering he is currently in a job. Guest chopey
Nufc.com say Vieira is having talks today so I can't imagine we'll here anything tonight unless he has blown them away and he gets the job straight away
EthiGeordie
Luke Edwards is loving this @LukeEdwardsTele: Doubts grow about Patrick Vieira becoming Newcastle United manager | via @Telegraph http://t.co/IjTDyOHADJ #nufc http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/11644653/Newcastle-United-have-not-pursued-Patrick-Vieira.html How come that guy Edwards have been saying it´s McCLaren at any opportunity..? He got an agenda? he always does. deserve his ban imo
TRon
No idea what to make of this other than I don't think it will happen, but I would be quite excited if it was Vieira. True he's not experienced but while Mclaren is experienced he's got no ambition. I can't see Vieira coming here to be a patsy on the other hand. He's got the winner mentality in everything he does, he's not going to want to come here to try and finish 10th.

It's at the stage now, where you think that if there was absolutely nothing in it at all, that Vieira would have issued a denial. Particularly considering he is currently in a job. Oh, I'm sure they've talked/will talk to him, just as I'm certain they have talked to Garde in January and had no intention to appoint him or grant even the most basic of requests. If you believe that NUFC really want to appoint somebody like Vieira, who will have some reasonable demands of his own that are completely incompatible with our "model", you pretty much have to believe that Mike Ashley has turned a corner and I don't buy that for one second personally. Barnes23
Craig Hope @CraigHope_DM Been told no time set for Vieira/NUFC talks & he has interest from elsewhere. McClaren, though, is preparing for interview. More @MailSport

Unbelievable
So that's two sources (DM and Telegraph) saying we are not actually in talks with Vieira even though we may be interested, contradicting earlier claims by the two club's mouthpieces. Hmmm.
oldtype
Calm down, Vieira is just a smokescreen for McClaren who is just a smokescreen for Carver getting the job again. Smokescreen-ception.

FinnMag
Its gonna be McClaren. All other "candidates" are just smoke screen.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Graves obviously knew about this for a while yet it was another Sky journo that "broke" it. Graves even said "well done" to the guy who broke it on Twitter, then confirming to others "Yes, Vieira was on the list". Sky have known for ages yet they decide to release it now as a breaking story. Just SkyBet fodder, man. Graves could have told us previous, but he may as well be on Ashley's payroll. Sky have either been told they can release it or asked if they could. Not a cat in Hell's chance Vieira gets it. Nice tidy little sum been deposited into SkyBet though. Cronky
Edwards and the Telegraph were banned by the club last year. There's no love lost between them and Ashley. What seems clear to me from those articles is a) Edwards hasn't a clue what's going on and b) he doesn't want the club to appoint Vieira.
Chris Banaloona
If Vieira doesn't in fact take the role like many of us expect he won't, for me the club have made a rod for their own back by releasing a "smoke-screen" story of this nature. I feel unless Garde (or someone "fresh" and forward thinking) takes the role, then whoever gets the job (McClaren) are on a hiding to nothing from the start. The club, whether they wanted too or not, have actually increased hope and expectation amongst many of us only to actual let us down when they hire ANOTHER patsy. The tension and pressure on the club could be even bigger if this doesn't go the route of Vieira or Garde et al.
gdm
I don't really understand what's to gain PR wise from stories bout Vieira. Surely fans are gonna be more annoyed and less likely to back McClaren, knowing the club chose the cheap crap option

Teasy
A week ago people were saying "I don't like McClaren but since it seems to be just him or Carver I'll give him a chance", expectations were at an all time low. If this is all just PR then its moronic, it just makes it clear to everyone that we do have some very realistic choices far better than McClaren, peoples hopes and expectations are being brought back up. So when McClaren is finally brought in nobody will be even remotely happy with it. I mean it may be all bollocks, but its a utterly stupid move by Ashley and co if it is. Guest ElCid
So fuckin ridiculous. McClaren is a fuckin failure. I didn't think Carver would get it but McClaren in my mind is on just about the same level as Pardew. If he is appointed then Ashley has been shot in his first attempt at sticking his head above the hole and will feel the wrath of season ticket holder not renewing this year. I honestly don't think it will be McClaren but if it is, fat Mike just f***ed himself with the fans at the first attempt. You cannot legislate for a SACKED Championship manager getting the job and if it s I look forward t all the s*** coming steaming down - if it is mind!
