Gallowgate Toon
He might just be starting players based on their fitness and performance in training?
Gallowgate Toon
Aye I've got nee idea what the f*** was the point in starting him. The whole 'give players a chance' thing only works if they haven't proven they're utter s**** for their entire time at the club beforehand. This is the reason we're still stuck with Obershan. To be fair to Gouffran, there was a time when he looked a useful player for us.
Kanj
I'd rather start Obertan over Gouffran. Jesus that's bad.
AyeDubbleYoo
I'd rather start Obertan over Gouffran. Jesus that's bad. No doubt about it IMO. Gouffran used to be an average-to-OK wide forward slash striker. How he became a midfielder is one of the greatest mysteries of our time.
Village Idiot
He might just be starting players based on their fitness and performance in training? Yeah, it's early preseason. Starting a player only usually means he has better fitness than others at this point. I guess I will need to cry foul when Lucho benches Messi in his first preseason game (and he will). Pilko
I thought it was fairly common knowledge that a pre-season programme starts with "who's the fittest" and gradually morphs into the starting team for the opening weekend as every friendly passes? DJ_NUFC
These pack of cunts haven't done shit, yet. The games so far have been fucking grim, Carver's stamp all over them.
Mr Logic
I think we've lacked this kind of guy for a long time, perhaps since Keegan was a one-man motivator. The current backroom staff must have changed the atmosphere there to an infinitely better one that under Carver and Pards.

Ikon
It will take time before we look like a real football team. As long as we're slowly getting better i wont complain too much. Just hope we get another 2-3 players in that we really do need.

Guest
I'd take mid-table this season as long as during that we saw a clear style of play and signs we were moving away from the drivel Pardew served up. I'd probably prefer that to a 7th placed finish with crap football this season actually.

DJ_NUFC
Also friendlies are notoriously not indicative of how a team will perform competitively. Yeah, I'm just aching to see what our full first team would look like and how they play together. I'm pretty sure it's gonna take a few months to get the Carvdew pheromones out of the dressing room and for us to look like a football team again. On the other hand, I'm concerned how far down the table we'll be come Christmas if we start the season off craply.

Cronky
Mbemba looks like a very good addition, but we could do with bringing in another CB as a priority. That would make a big difference. If you're secure at the back, it frees up the rest of the team, mentally as much as anything.
buzza
Just being able to pass the ball out from defense without the whole team shitting itself would be a huge plus!
mrmojorisin75
What 'worries' me so far is we've not gone down the traditional route of trying to fix a shite football team by becoming solid first and then building. I get that scoring goals and being creative is also a massive problem for us but I suspect unless we address the fact we concede goals for fun as a team then we'll still be in the shit overall. Dan Gleebals
Over the last 5 seasons (298 matches), we have: - Conceded (on average) 1.56 goals per game - Scored (on average) .8 of a goal per game Plain for any sane person to see what the issues are that need to be addressed.
