I was keen on Carsley and it seems a shame he was hounded out of the job. If nothing else it suggested a long term strategy and overarching football ethos.

 

You have to seriously question the credentials of any England manager who thinks that Henderson playing for England in 2025 is still a thing.

These games are just a means to an end.  As long as we qualify I don't care what the performances are like. It's the the tournament that matters and I won't be judging anything Tuchel does until after that first group game.

 

I'm not expecting anything from the tournament but teams have gone into World Cups with awful qualification records/performances and gone on to do really well.

 

Southgate was excellent during qualifiers for the most part and never got the results at tournaments we needed. The two aren't much related.
