madras
Good deal for both parties. Still like Gini irrespective of how half his season went and he is a quality player. Wondered if he might pull a Colo and just need a years agjustment but towards the end of the season, when we still had a decent chance of staying up, he just looked like he couldn't be arsed. The College Dropout
£25m is fair money. If he plays 35 games he'll get 15 goals without having to play upfront. It's just whether they'll be happy with a midfielder that only contributes goals. But if they g with an Origi upfront who may only get 10-15 goals himself but helps form a slick style, a Ghostly assassin from midfield might be exactly what they need. i dunno. His lack of involvement imo will hold him back from being a top player.

Agreed and that certainly reflects poorly on him insofar as his attitude and application. Think he might not suffer from the same kind of tragic circumstances/adversity with a Klopp managed Liverpool though.

Literally couldn't really be arsed to stay for a club's fans that worshiped him when he scored 4, or would take any man on and beat them with ease...and couldn't be arsed to play for Rafa and take accountability and responsibility for not performing when it counted to save the club from relegation. End of day i'd have loved him to stay but if he's sulking away and doesn't want to be part of Rafa's project - later Gini. Good luck at Liverpool. Those fans will not be as forgiving or take to him as quickly as our fans.
TRon
Very surprised at the fee. I'd have been happy just recouping our money. Of course you would. This is the reason why the Daily Star remains in circulation, and Sam Allardyce will be the next England manager. Because there are lots more like you who will continue to be surprised by football outside our limited thinking.

TRon
Happy to get rid Now for Sissoko Just need to get them to reduce the fee by about £30m or so to reflect Sissoko's true value as ascertained by those of us in the know about the game.

"Be lucky to sell both for 20m combined" We got exactly what we should have for Gini. Great job by Rafa, who was likely telling Lee to chill the fuck out and wait it out. peder
What good matches did Wijnaldum play for us? Trying to remember them, but hard atm. Norwich was decent and..
Hughesy
Think he'll go on to do well for Liverpool - there is a quality player in there and he'll benefit from playing in good team. Having said that - £25 million is a fair price and probably best to offload if he wants to leave.

Guest chopey
When he first came last year and the video appeared of him walking into St Jame's for the first time and he was amazed at the size of the place, he spoke so well and I thought he was our next captain, I can't believe he turned into just another football mercenary. KaKa
Man, considering we've been relegated, and he played a big part in that fact, this is a good fee we are getting for him. Good stuff. Will be all upfront too.
colinmk
The difference in every deal being done is night and day to when that silly prick was here. Quite happy with this one, questionable attitude and not what we need right now. Same with Sissoko. Hope we can get a quality creative midfielder in as think Shelvey is poor. peder
So can anyone name the good matches he played for us on the top of their head? Trying to explain to an poolbuddy of mine we are close to glad to rid of him, he is just laughing at me.
STM
I like to think there are some Liverpool fans reading this thread thinking they have signed a dud. Of course he has talent but he's a hide and seek champion. I'm desperate for us to get rid of Sissoko now and get a couple of new players in.

Norwich, Man Utd draw, Spurs last day of the season but I wouldn't count that, Liverpool win, Chelsea draw, West Ham win, probably a few more. He played well in quite a few matches, the problem is when he doesn't play well it's like having a ghost playing

KaKa
He'll be good at Liverpool, as they have numerous other players that take responsibility with the ball. This was not the case with us, and so he was an annoying player to have in our team, and would have continued to be. Best result for both parties.
