I don't want to fall into the trap of over hyping this young lad but it's just nice to see someone with a good attitude, especially at his age.

He's certainly one to watch. I just hope he gets paired with someone good next year.

Always thought he looks like he's got something about him.

Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat left St Mary’s wearing a sling after an extraordinary dressing room incident.

After the Dutchman was injured in the first half he took his anger out on the dressing room wall and is understood to have broken two fingers.

Janmaat went off after an awkward fall after a defence-splitting from Sadio Mane in the first half which eventually led to Graziano Pelle scoring the game’s second goal.

It is believed that Janmaat later admitted his actions had been stupid, but it is also understood there were some strong words from Newcastle players to each other after the appalling first half display.

Janmaat is now being assessed for both injuries picked up on and off the field.

Jamaal Lascelles is thought to have been one of the players that spoke up in the dressing room and told team-mates things aren’t right at United.

And he did not hold back on his way out of the ground as he stopped to speak to the media on a day when captain Jonjo Shelvey and other senior players stayed silent.

Shelvey has not spoken to the local written Press since he signed for the club in January.

Lascelles told the BBC: “We need bigger characters on the pitch, players who care and who are going to get after each other.

“We have lacked it this season and no matter how good you are, if you don’t have that fight and hunger and desire, it doesn’t matter.

“We had Steve McClaren who is a great manager and now we’ve got Rafa Benitez, who is a great manager, so it’s clearly not that.

“It’s the players and we have to take full responsibility.

“It’s ourselves who need to change it and not the manager.

“We need to play with more heart. We’ve got flair

The fact that the only person willing to stand up and say something to try and provoke a reaction in this side is a 22 year old who has been at the club less than a year says it all about the rest of the heartless cowards we have in the team. They should be fucking ashamed of themselves, but I don't think any of them even give it a second thought, they'll just be on the lookout for a new club in the summer.

Sounds as thick as fuck in that interview. Makes Saylor looks marginally intelligent and that takes some doing. Fucking hell.

Sounds like a young substitute thrown in front of the media when the person you mention, or other senior players, should've been there answering the questions.

No need to be ludicrously harsh on him based on that small snipped of an interview. Compared to him, Mitro comes across as a mentally challenged individual going by his interviews all season. Lay off these kids, blame belongs to the seniors who're hiding on the pitch and off it.

Young Serb who has lived in England for a small amount of time in not being proficient in English shocker.

I was referring more to the star tattoo on his neck :D

Like what he said, still unsure why Rafa dropped him to bring back Taylor at Norwich, baffling decision that like.

Yep.  I get he wants experience.  But Steven Taylor, FFS?!

I thought Lascelles was solid, if unspectacular, when he had to come into the team.  Seems to lead and organise well, plus he wins everything in the air.  Dropping him for that fist pumping disaster zone, was a terrible decision.

Just from the few games we've seen of him, he's far better than Saylor. Experience or not he has to play over him but i get the feeling it'll be Chancel and Colo this weekend for some reason.

No chance, Colo has twisted his bullshit again and in an attempt to protect his fragile pea-sized heart he won't play again this season.

Ah, well not too bothered about that. Chancel and Jamaal is it.

He's been on the verge of a return for a while but keeps being omitted,  clearly lost heart and doesn't want to be involved in the fight, plus he's not had his annual holiday jaunt to Argentina this year so is probably feeling a little homesick. He might be better than Lascelles but he doesn't have half the heart or fight in him.

Neither do most the other players. To be honest i think we've being fooling ourselves a bit, these players aren't just gutless, they're not very good footballers either.

Most of our players are bang average with a few outstanding performances thrown in when the going wasn't so tough but are clearly worse than the sum of their parts, mostly due to the fact they're an improper sum that doesn't fit together but also because they are fucking cowards and none of them have the ability to gee any of the others up. We have no leaders to grab a game by the balls and do something. We're not a team just a bunch of heartless individuals bar the odd one or two that care but aren't good enough. Thanks Ashley you fat useless fuck.

Don't think this lad will ever be a world beater but I like his attitude and I feel like him and Mbemba would compliment each other well if given a proper run together since they cover each other's deficiencies. If they both stay in the summer I wouldn't be unhappy at them being the first choice pairing in the championship.

Well he's not been the type to duck matches in all his previous time here, he's probably missed games through injury less than anybody else. maybe he really is injured and he just takes longer to recover now he's getting on a bit.

We've conceded only one goal 4 times in the last 5 games this lad has played.

Stokes was Shaquiris long ranger, Leicesters was a bicycle kick, Sunderlands a corner & Southamptons from a corner when he was on. Teams arent destroying us in open play when hes on the pitch. Bournemouth got 3, but one was a taylor own goal & the other a last minute finish.

Norwich & Southampton scored 5 in two games without him on the pitch.

No idea why we've persisted with Taylor this year. This lad doesn't look the finished article but seems to have genuine character, guts and the arsehole required for a relegation scrap. Great header.

Can head the ball, can pass the ball over five yards, has a good attitude, seems semi-decent positionally, can score the odd goal.

Miles better than Colo, Taylor or Williamson has managed in the last year and a half.
