Karl Darlow (now playing for Leeds United)

He's a much better 'keeper than Elliot technically but is mentally fragile and sometimes struggles to concentrate.

Your argument is weak. If he wasn't better than Elliot why did Darlow have 34 appearances to Elliot's 3 last season?

Given you are Elliot's number one fan on here you might want to start spelling his name correctly.

Because Elliot spent a lot of last season injured perhaps? They are both poor "technically" as you put it so I don't know how you can say one is much better than the other in that respect. In fact both of them have very few strengths to their game and several weaknesses.

He was fit from January (made his comeback in December) and couldn't displace Darlow.

Darlow really is far, far better than Elliot. Darlow is comfortably a decent Championship standard 'keeper. You'll find better 'keepers than Elliot at most clubs in League 1, which ironically is where we got him from, funny that.

He isn't far better at all, hence the reason that when both have been fit and available for selection they've made a similar amount of appearances for us under Rafa. If he was "far, far better" as you wrongly put it, Elliot wouldn't have had a look in. Both mediocre with very few strengths and many weaknesses.

Well they haven't. Darlow has made considerably more. Elliot got into the side last season because Darlow's mental side of the game had gone.

If you asked Elliot himself he would tell you that Darlow is far better than he is.

24 v 16 is hardly considerably more for a goalkeeper who is "far, far better" than his rival. Darlow couldn't even make the bench for most of this season.

Well yes, it's nearly double.

The only time Darlow hasn't made the bench this season is when he's been injured (obviously discounting the games he's started) - 3 games when Woodman was on the bench due to Darlow being injury.

So not considerably more than. Not established as 1st choice over Elliot. Just accept you're wrong here and stop digging

Darlows shot stopping and commandment of the area is much better then Elliott, and I feel much more comfortable with Darlow in goal, the only thing that Elliott is better at it distribution imo.

He's conceded 3 goals in 2 games from crosses into his 6 yard box though.

Darlow is very likely to drop one as well though. He'd actually be a really good keeper if he had anything between his ears

If you wanted to dig further into it, Darlow has never had a season outside of the top two divisions. Whereas Elliott has made most of his appearances in League 1, prior to old Pards giving him a call.

Greg will tell you off for spelling his name incorrectly mind.

Of which only one he was at fault for - West Brom’s first where his positioning was awful.

He’s not a fan boy so gets a pass.

Wonder how s**** Woodman must be in training to not play ahead of either of them.

They’re both crap keepers, it’s like arguing over your favourite Bristol Stool Chart photo.

Not sure throwing a very young keeper in when we're shipping loads of goals due to a leaky defence is the best idea. Could be worth a try I guess

Hope Woodman gets a start in the cup next month

He should have played against Forest in the League Cup back in August. Darlow was absolutely hopeless that night and it didn't even look like he was trying. Would have been the perfect game to give Woodman a try.

Worked for Pickford.

Pickford was a year older but I am inclined to agree. Either that or we need to get him out on loan second half of the season in the Championship. That may be difficult as most clubs will have a settled number 1 - plenty of teams wanted him in the summer but Rafa blocked a loan move saying he wanted him to work with the first team squad and reassess loan options in January but to do this we would probably need to bring in another back up keeper.

I think the perfect scenario was him staying here and learning for half a season alongside someone like Reina.

Instead he's spent it with two players who technically he's probably not that far behind (if at all) already.
