Newcastle 0-1 Andre Marriner - 29/8/15 - Post Match Reaction From Page 5

I'd possibly bring De Jong on for Sissoko and put him up top.

Sissoko is our best bet to do something on the counter IMO.

 As usual he's been our biggest threat going forward, don't know what people are thinking of wanting him brought off

Just switched on - what was the penalty decision about that they're referencing?

Clear penalty. Thauvin stood on the back of his foot following a run into the box.

I didn't think it was that clear tbh, easily given I guess but no intent.

Since when are penalties given based on intent?

Well normally the offending player is trying to actually do something.

You try to kick the ball but the opponent moves the ball away and you kick him. Intent?

Intent to clear the ball, yes.

Well then you can just as well say that in this situation his intent was to run

But that's my point, I don't think he was guilty of anything other than inadvertently planting his foot in the same spot as the Arsenal player.

Can't be arsed arguing about it like, as I said it could have easily been given but I can understand the ref thinking it was just an accident.

I don't think you understood my point. If you accidentally kick a player when trying to clear the ball its a foul. If you accidentally run on someone's ankle, its a foul.

Maybe outside the box, yes. And though it's not meant to matter, evidence over the years confirms it clearly does.

We can't complain about the red. He's got away with two bad challenges already this season. This time, luck went against him.

We've done okay since. But sooner or later Giroud will come on and he'll cause us more problems than Walcott.

We can't complain about the red due to previous incidents, as if that should have a direct correlation? Can't tell if serious or trolling

No, what I was saying is those sorts of challenges sometimes get a red, sometimes a yellow. If you put yourself at risk of getting a red like that, you can't complain when the call goes against you.

Since when has 'putting yourself at risk' been a punishable offence? I don't even think he did, I think he tried to control the ball and was too slow. He wasn't even trying to tackle the guy ffs.

Perez for Thauvin would be a good call. He works hard, and might nick something.

Jesus, you see the game in substanceless cliches don't you
