Newcastle remain hopeful of convincing Crystal Palace to allow Andros Townsend to rejoin them on loan, with the move resting on whether Sam Allardyce can find a replacement in time. Palace have agreed a fee of an initial £9m for Norwich’s Robbie Brady and Patrick van Aanholt from Sunderland but look unlikely to sign both, although Allardyce still wants more reinforcements before allowing Townsend to depart to the club he left last summer for £13m. Newcastle’s move for Modou Barrow now seems unlikely to go ahead with Swansea preferring to sell the Gambia international rather than loaning him out.

Sam Allardyce says #cpfc have had "no monetary bids" for anyone yet, & some have enquired about loans but "why should we loan anyone" #NUFC

Does anyone know if agents get fees for sorting loans or do they just get fees for transfers?

Meh, its just Fat Sam posturing.

He clearly doesn't rate/want Townsend, but is probably hoping to draw out some more interest for a cash sale.

However, if we are the only club interested (and Townsend does want to come back), I'd guess our loan with option could still happen, but it'll go down to the wire.

Just hope that we are still trying to pursue other deals incase this doesn't happen.

I doubt Fat Sam is being let anywhere near the transfer dealings at Palace.

Are you sure? They have just wasted £14M on Patrick van Aan Holt.

He can certainly name the players in and out - but I doubt, as one of potentially few measure used to ensure the fat cunt is not taking advantage of them, he is updated on the situations timely and I would say some info is even withheld back.

Unless Palace are really stupid.

His transfer dealings kept Sunderland up last season

This narrative is woeful.

When he joined they were 2 points from safety. They stayed up, with 2 points. He gave them a decisive but marginal boost.

Sam Allardyce's career has seen him spend lots of money on transfers/wages, staying up in the PL and rarely pushing the top 8.

The only managers in recent memory that have been allowed to do that for several clubs are Bruce & Pardew.

Ok. But he's choosing players. Aware that there's financial limits at the club he's approved £25m for the pair. I like PVA though.
